Asterisk 1.6.0.10
I just added Asterisk 1.6.0.10 to the trixbox 2.8 repo. This has some fixes for the problem with Analog cards not coming up on boot. A few people with Sangoma analog cards reported this problem.
yum clean all
rpm -del --nodeps kmod-dahdi-linux dahdi-linux
yum -y update
yum install kmod-dahdi-linux dahdi-linux
You should only need to remove kmod-dadhi-linux if you are using the old RC4 version but it doesn't cause any problems if you remove it the yum install will install the correct version.

I Tried the yum commands at the start of this thread... end result still no go. I started with a fresh 2.8.0.1 ISO - and installed ONLY TBM-BACKUP - no other changes and definately no old files

I've had the same problem, went to packages and removed the mISDN packages (line 551-553 inmy system), then did:
yum clean all
yum -y update
the update progressed smoothly as expected

I can do that. The point is I should not have to do that with a release quality ISO or update. If something is release quality, it should simply work. You announced that Asterisk 1.6.0.10 was available and stated a process to update. That process fails. That is not a release quality update.
Additionally, yum will fail to update (prior to this mISDN issue) on the dahdi issue even though the trixbox 2.8.0.1 ISO is not supposed to have the RC4 version, but a clean install of 2.8.0.1 requires the removal and reinstallation.
It is usable, and I have worked around the problems by removing and reinstalling, we simply should not have to.

While I agree that we shouldn't have to mess with this, I have the same trouble with the kmod-mISDN and the mISDN-kmod-base modules 'conflicting'.
This is a new clean install with 2.8.0.1 ISO.
Any thoughts on how we can make this go away?
