Request for Comments: MFC/R2 signalling

There is some internal discussion about supporting MFC/R2 signaling. We need to know if there are anyone around that has a requirement for this and if there is anyone that can test it. If you have any interest in MFC/R2 signaling please let us know.

Testing has been a thorn in

Testing has been a thorn in the side. I know MFC/R2 has had enough demand to spark interest to get it in to 1.6 asterisk/dahdi I personally have seen demand from the south American folks and they have had to either not use trixbox or have had to "untrix" their trixbox to make it happen. I think it would be a good add. I think you may not see the need because folks use the other guys who have it rather than trying to get something added.

mfcr2 and trixbox

Hi, I would be happy to test it out. I have a unit with two E1 using mfr/r2 signaling I had one of your engineers installing the unicall on trixbox. but had to find out the local configuration part the hardway. The big disadvantage right now is that I can not upgrade
and every time I submit an change using freepbx all my external calls will drop.

Thanks Ivan, We are

Thanks Ivan,
We are looking into this to make sure this doesn't break anything else and its good to know we have someone that can help test it.

Kerry, I think our T1/E1

Kerry,

I think our T1/E1 test set can support this standard. I am going to take a look tomorrow and if it does you are welcome to use it.

It functions as a full line simulator.

Kerry, I've installed Moises

Kerry,
I've installed Moises Silva's libopenr2 library on some trixbox client's servers and I think is really better than Unicall (that I used until openr2 was released) because Moy's lib works with a patched chan_zap, and easily integrates to everithing else.

Let me know if you need some help with the testing or if you need some of my experience installing this library and patching trixbox to work with it.

Well anyone who has been

Well anyone who has been around the block knows the relationship between the author of libunicall and Digium which is why MFC/R2 and many other great things are not part of asterisk. All the recent development chatter about adding unicall has been around the use of libopenr2 so when it is part of the tree that will probably be the implementation.

I can test

Kerry,

I can certainly help to test trixbox support for MFC/R2 either with Unicall or OpenR2. Drop me a line if you are interested.
