CE 2.6.1 - RC1 Release
ISO is numbered 2.6.0.13, this will be RC1 for the 2.6.1 release. It is looking VERY good but there have been a lot of visual changes and testing needs to be done. If you open a bug, please make the subject being with [2.6.1] so we can isolate the issues. Thanks.

Thanks everyone!
I am installing vmware service as I type this.
I also brought home a couple of old Polycom IP500's so I will put 2.6.1 through the paces.
I was planning on getting started on the lawn this weekend, now we have rain/ice forecast and wet snow for Monday. Yeah!

eww - 500s ;) have fun mucking with config files (if you like Cisco config files, you'll love this times 10)
aastra 480i's are a lot easier, and not much more expensive if you find one used, and the aastra xml suite now has CDP for auto-provisioning (you will like ;)

The 500's are already reflashed from MGCP to SIP and setup for Asterisk. I just have to program them from the keypad. I use an XML editor, they are not that hard to program. I have about 300 of them out on customer premise, all MGCP on a Sylantro switch our original hosted platform.
Fell asleep in my chair, time to pick this up tomorrow.
Ok I am going to ask the stupid question :)
what is MGCP I did a google search but did not find alot of it (well I did but did not undersatnd it).
I have 5 IP500's and 1 working with tb do i need to change anything, is this some kinda of firmware i need to install on the phone?
Sorry again.

IP500's are fine basic phones and are simple to setup. If you don't want to do anything funky with them they may good UA's for trix.
You only need to worry about MGCP if your Polycom's do not have SIP software.
Many of the Polycom IP500's out there where shipped OEM from Sylantro a manufacturer of large (read expensive) carrier class softswitches. These units can be identified by a dedicated call park and pickup softkey.
If you need to convert some, post a new thread and we will give you a hand.
The other tricky part is the IP500's use a earlier software load, they have insufficient memory to run any of the newer loads. We have had the best luck 2.12.0078.
Lastly, don't be intimidated by the XML config it is very simple and you can have a lot of fun with it. Do yourself a favor. Get a copy of the Polycom IP500 Administrators guide for 2.12 and Microsoft's free XML Notepad application. You can then play with the settings all day.
You can use WinSCP and open the file right on your windows desktop.
Have Fun
2.6.1 is running great and looks terrific. I have not found any problems.
I did notice that after the software loads, before initial login that one of the scripts is trying to clean up a bunch of files that do not exist.
Do the trix scripts write their output to a file I can check?
One other funky thing, I installed Hamachi from the trix package manager. The setup-hamachi script was missing. I had to do a yum install hamachi. I should have looked before I yum'ed to see if the application was installed.
More later....Scott
Everything worked fine with the exception that email stuff isn't working in this release e.g. voicemail > email etc.
I guess that I have finally run into the issues that others are having with Sendmail.
Do I report it as a bug or what or any suggestions?
Cheers
Garry
I have not been able to understand what to put in as a FQDN in a dynamic IP setting. At another location I have my external ip number followed by telepacific.net, e.g. 123.123.123.123.telepacific.net At home where I am testing this I have a dynamic ip with comcast and I do not know what to use in this case. Any advice?
I did fill out the SMTP info and no emails have come through yet.
No - I haven't done anything, just installed it on the same test PC as all the other incarnations that just worked out of the box.
I therefore assume that it has always been the "default" settings luckily as I know very little about Linux. Has something changed?
Do I now need to run setup-mail?
Cheers
Garry
Now I understand - Sendmail has gone and Postfix is not working as a standard install.
In previous discussions there was an indication that you had or would provide a script to put Sendmail back. I have never had an issue with it ever as a "out of the box install".
Would the script be available in the near future as I don't really want to add any hassles by now having to try and resolve why my emails aren't working with Postfix.
Cheers

kerry, in your changelog, u state that for .13 that there is "Integration of more of the updated modules".
Is there a list of these?
I interested in Core update (gutty stuff that is beyond the development of the trixbox team e.g. asterisk, zaptel etc.)
Cheers for the update bud!
I tried to run yum and this is what I get, does it help. I installed 2.6.0.7 on same machine with no problem and then reinstalled 2.6.0.13 and had the same problem.
[trixbox1.localdomain ~]# yum
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:
librpmbuild-4.4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.
It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.4.3 (#1, Mar 14 2007, 18:51:08)
[GCC 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-52)]
If you cannot solve this problem yourself, please go to
the yum faq at:
http://wiki.linux.duke.edu/YumFaq
Tested good this morning
Simple test:
date | sendmail -v email@domain.com
I sent it to my gmail account, got it immediately.
Where do I go to from here guys?
I am unable to get email working under PostFix whereas I have never had any issues with previous versions containing SendMail where it "just worked" - the only thing i did was to put my email address in /root/.forward in order to get the daily log file.
Given that this was a change because a lot of people had issues with SendMail and it was suggested that only gurus were able to succeed with SendMail - then are there any PostFix gurus available to help me get PostFix to work - I am a guru in neither.
Alternatively Kerry offered to provide a script to put SendMail back if there were issues with PostFix - is that available?
Garry
Gary install Webmin and go to the relevant menu for postfix under the mail options, once Webmin is installed it's quite simple to do simple or advanced changes depending on what setup you need. I don't know your setup, but I'm sure you just will have to enter some basic mail settings. The Postfix menu in Webmin user friendly.
Pity that postfix doesn't work out the box for you, haven't had a chance to check the latest release, but looking forward to it.
Not ready to raise any flags yet, however after seeing this post I want to at least get it on the table.
I have seen funky behavior even with the FreePBX reload bar in RC1.
Several configuration changes that should have worked where only resolved with a service asterisk reload.
This should not happen.
I will try to replicate the exact steps I took and see if I can recreate the problem.

I found a great postfix tutorial at:
http://postfix.state-of-mind.de/patrick.koetter/smtpauth/index.ht...
Specifically:
http://postfix.state-of-mind.de/patrick.koetter/smtpauth/smtp_aut...
for setting up Auth to work with (in my case, Comcast's) ISPs mail servers.
Garry, I suspect you are either running into an ISP that's (newly) restricting outbound Email, or there's something very basic not quite right with postfix, start with:
http://postfix.state-of-mind.de/patrick.koetter/smtpauth/postfix_...
and see what you find. I found it a little daunting when I first looked at it, but it's really just a few configuration file lines and a couple of shell commands.
I dug up another PC and did a fresh install with 2.6.0.7 (uses SendMail) and it just works (same home - same room - same router - same ISP). I do absolutely nothing at all in SendMail. I wouldn't know where to start anyway. So it is hard to suspect the ISP blocking only mail from PostFix.
Thanks for the links - I followed them and still no success.
The way I see it, I am either stuck at 2.6.0.7, or Kerry provides a script to install SendMail as possibly indicated back in the original SendMail/PostFix topic or I look at an alternative. It is extremely frustrating after following it from *@Home and it just working out of the box to now being at this point where something that has just never been an issue now to all intentions prevents me using it.
I now feel for those many other people who seemed to have problems with SendMail prior to the change.
Garry
Not only will there be a script to switch back to sendmail, you will also be able to specify that you want sendmail at the initial boot screen so you can choose which one you want. Frankly, I am shocked that postfix isnt working as well or better than postfix. Did you try running setup-mail? It may be a default configuration issue that we can fix if we can isolate the problem.
I had tried the script and got nowhere.

Please enter the FQDN of this trixbox system.
This is the Domain name that the internet knows your system as.
If you do not have an FQDN use a dynamic DNS service to get one.
FQDN: palamo.com.au
Enter the smart relay host, if you do not need one, leave this blank
Smart Host:
rewriting main.cf to masquerade as palamo.com.au ...
Ignoring Smart host.
postfix/postfix-script: refreshing the Postfix mail system
Done.

In regards to below - has this been seen by others and do I need to enter a bug report on it?
I do a lot of changes through onfig edit on the custom files and it definitely doesn't do a reload even though it indicates it has.
"It seems on my installation that when you use the Configuration Editor then doing an Update followed by a re-read configs is not doing a reload.
The only way is to go into FreePBX - update something and click the orange bar."

There seems to be something wrong with the sataraid install mode. I've tried it on 3 different motherboards now with various settings and it fails every time. Anaconda throws up python script errors and finally says md0 could not be run.
Wish I could provide more, but i've run out of time and the box I was testing on has to now be pressed into service otherwise.
2.6.0.7 worked perfectly in all scenarios, btw.
Hi Kerry,
Apart from email not working with PostFix and a reload not occurring after changing files through "Config File Editor", I haven't noticed any other issues with this release.
Is there a release date yet for the next RC or Final yet?
Fingers crossed that a choice of SENDMAIL or PostFix during Install is provided in the next release and this will remove my main gripe (well the only one I don't seem to be able to get around).
Cheers
Garry
