i have 2 cisco 7940 phones that are part of a ring group. if either phone is set to do a call forward while that person is out then when someone calls in from outside to the ring group that phone is associated with then it ring ALL the phones in the ring group for only 1 ring or so then the cisco phone that is set to forward starts forwarding that call to whatever number is specified and cuts all the other phones off. is there any way to have this ability without having it cut off all the phones without having to remove the phone from the ring group?

the easiest way around this

the easiest way around this that i know of is to have two extensions on the phone. one that is the users personal extension and another that is just a member of the ring group. this way the user can forward just their personal extension and not the ring group extension. in addition, the user will know if someone is calling them directly, or calling the ring group.
