Extension plans

Is there a guide to preferred extension setup schemes? I was reading one of the Trixbox made easy guides and it listed a few numbers, like 3, that you should avoid using to start your extensions with, but it didn't offer any suggestions on what "safe" extensions were.
Anyone have any comments or experience with this? I'm using 3xx extensions with no problem, but I'd rather switch if a real problem may be looming.

When possible, it is recommended to not use extension numbers that start with a valid IVR keypress option. So if you have "Press 1 for sales, press 2 for support" then you may not want to use extensions starting with 1 or 2. There is nothing actually wrong with that, it will just help the detection to go a smidgen faster.
