If you have a common questions like which phone, or how big should my server be, or freepbx keeps telling me xyz error, please skim through the resources available before posting. Scroll down for common questions.

The WIKI is growing more each day, and has a lot of step-by-step guides (towards the bottom), common issues, troubleshooting guides, custom code addons, and much more. Also use the SEARCH Feature. There is also a more generalized FAQ in the wiki that answers a LOT more questions.

If you are just starting, look through the wiki, and definitely read either the Sureteq guides, or trixbox Without Tears guide (bottom of the wiki) - this may seem like a lot of reading, but either way whether you ask a bunch of questions in the forum, or read a bunch of guides, you WILL have to READ a LOT - dont be lazy, this isnt some "overclock my cpu project", it wont happen overnight.

If you are having a problem, read THIS "Help-us-help-you" guide before posting, if your post does not include at least some of the requirements from that link, your post will most likely go un-answered.

Lastly make sure to post in the correct forum, there are several vendor and topic specific forums, such as Polycom, Aastra and Sangoma, and a real important one trixbox PRO, unless the forum is labeled "PRO" it usually pertains to the Community Edition. Each forum is monitored by people specific to that category (unless noted "unmoderated"), ensuring you get a faster answer from people who know.

On to common questions/answers:

  • "How big does my server need to be",
or "can this handle 10000 users",
or "how many calls can trixbox make?"
    http://www.trixbox.org/wiki/How-big
  • "How does my first trixbox setup sound?"
or "I am upgrading my junk server, does this new setup sound good?"

  • Which phones do you think I should use?

  • Is there a wireless sip phone? (real original)

  • Voicemail to email guide:

  • Remote phones:

  • "I keep seeing RAM usage at close to 100% on the status page":
    High memory usage
  • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone has anything relevant to add to this, please post it and I will add it to the original post.

I dont want this list to become too overbearing, so please consider the relevancy before posting.

LASTLY, DO NOT POST QUESTIONS in this post, they will be deleted in an effort to keep it clean and organized.

    Sticky THIS

This should be a sticky at the top of the first 5 to 7 topics in the forums...would help the entire posting process and probably help out a bunch of newbies find some answers to questions that they don't even know how to ask...

    Duh!

Thanks jahyde, I just came off a rant in KodaK's stickied dentist post and my brain was no longer firing on all cylinders. I didn't get what KodaK was saying in that last post until you filled in the mumbles for me. DUH!
