Jitter/Stutter in system recordings ONLY (not calls)
Brand new system build. Brand new Intel mobo, Core 2 duo, ram, etc.
Everything working great. I'm positive this isnt a network/internet issue.
I can make calls to extensions and outside sources just fine, they sound great.
However, my system recordings sound jittered. The IVR, the voicemail...all jittery and stuttery. I've tried all the kernel option tricks i've found in the forums, noapic, etc.... I cannot get the apic=on to work, system freezes on boot, but every other kernel mode in these forums and out on the net relating to this problem, ive tried.
What could be going on? Here's the weird part: the recordings were perfect for the first couple of days after i commissioned the server. Now, all stuttery.
Example: T--ha-nk-yo-u fo-r -call-ing t-h-e- a-g-c....etc you get the idea.
Somebody else had to have experienced this...its just a normal intel mobo with the latest trixbox ce 2.6.0.7 all yummed to the latest and freepbx modules are all updated etc.....
Im pretty experienced with trixbox and linux but i cant figure out whats going on...please help!
Kerry,
I have been able to replicate this on two systems (strangely both HP's)
In your experience can you clarify which of the following will work as a timing reference:
- An x100p or clone (seems doubtful as they are just a DSP winmodem)
- A digium or clone analog card without the FXO/FXS daughtercard
- Something else
Thanks in advance.
Scott
What would be the cheapest thing that would get the job done bearing in mind I wouldnt be using it (im all sip trunks). Whats a specific brand and card that would be cheapest just to act as a timing source? Also, do I need to do anything special to have trixbox use it as the source?
THanks kerryg, I appreciate the promptness...
Yeah, post back if you find anything on those x100p cards :)
btw, does this look like what you're talking about? http://www.voiplink.com/OpenVox_A100LP_1_FXO_Port_p/openvox-a100l...
Looks like they are out of stock on that one...would this card act as a timing source?

Once I get it and install it...does asterisk just start using it as it's timing source or do I have to do something specific?
We have tested AVM Audiovisuelles MKTG & Computer System GmbH A1 ISDN [Fritz] (rev 02)
was installed sucessfuly (i hope) with capi system, and asterisk chan_capi module
dmesg

but there is still problem with Jitter/Stutter in system recodring
is there any command to set sorce of timing signal
thx

I should be getting my OpenVOX card today but I have a feeling I'll have similar results as jinkt. There must be a way to force asterisk to look to a certain source. How can we do it?
Also, could someone be so kind as to do me the favor to visit here:
http://www.voiplink.com/OpenVox_A400P01_p/openvox-a400p01.htm
and tell me if that card is in fact a card with a timer...I'm hoping since I ordered it to come in today.
Hey folks! Im having the same probs as Skykingoh!
DONT BUY A x100p IF YOU HAVE A HP SERVER! IRQ issues on HP's board don't like this. Im hopefully gonna get a sangoma from ebay but if i loose that im gonna go for an openvox card.
I don't think trixbox supports HP's BIOS "Multimedia Timer" but if it did....
what codec are you using? G.711 is better.
If you are having problems like in this posting, and need to know where to get the best deal for a 1 port card from Openvox, PM me. I know a place where they don't advertise their lowest prices, but don't want to list it here and violate any advertising forums rule.
IdahoAGC,
Thanks for the info, but I was wanting to let you know that I have a bunch of them, and for all of my friends on the trixbox forums, I can get them to you for $25 less than what you paid with Priority Shipping included...if you need more, PM me and we can discuss this further.
Take a look at the following forum entry. It helped me fix the problem on a new system that only runs SIP calls.
http://trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-forums/trixbox-endpoints/playba...
The interrupt handlers for the kernel with a new board were not properly set. By changing the kernel option to have "acpi=on" in /etc/grub/grub.conf and rebooting, the problem appears to have gone away.
