Hello,

I'm new to Trixbox.
and I'm playing with the VMware from this website.

I'm currently Using the CE VM version.

I was wondering , can one enable Recording for all extenstions for monitoring needs, e.g.
I don't need the recordings to go to one's mail box I just want to archive everything said .
But whilst doing this still giving the end user the option to use CDR and record whatever he/she thinks is relevant and have it in their VoiceMail for future use.

I hope this havn't been covered too many times.

Thanks,

Jogel

look at the page that sets

look at the page that sets up extensions and you will see you can select recording options for both inbound and outbound calls - choices being "on demand", "always", "never". if you set the option to always, the calls are recorded. they are recorded into a central location and is independent of the voicemail system.

they go into

they go into /var/spool/asterisk/monitor

i am sure there is somewhere you can override this but i found the easiest is to either create a symlink to your desired location or if you are going to use another hard drive [or a storage array as i do], just mount the drive on that location.

eoo , how many calls do you

eoo , how many calls do you record ?
I noticed the files being listed on the End User Recording / Voicemail Login system, but when I look at the CDR report the calls are listed as "not recorded".
shouldn't the CDR list the call as recorded as well ?

I just did some tests and files sizes are quite big, considering 30 secs almost 0.5mb.
I assume that active installation with even 4 persons talking for couple of hours a day will kill my storage pretty quick .

how do you deal with it ?
do you run a compression on cron ?
is it possible to limit the access to the recorded files ? (I'll have to archive them for legal purposes) I wouldn't want the end user to be able to just tick the call and delete it .

Thanks, Jogel.

Uses much less...

Space. My tests show it uses exactly 285k for 3 minutes. So 1meg per 10 minutes.

It would be nice to have a cron job for compression.

1 Meg per 10 Minutes isn't that bad actually ...

is there an option to control the recorded sound quality ?
