Need someone in New York to replace Panasonic Doorbell Buzzer
Hi, in New York City area (Brooklyn, NY- in the Williamsburg village), I have a client where the secretaries right now need to have two phones at their desk. Their old system, Panasonic, was able to buzz people in from the intercom phone when someone rung the door bell.
Now with trixbox, this can't really be done anymore.
Anyone here that I can hire to put in a similar system? It doesn't really need to be on trixbox itself. Meaning- let it be separated from the trixbox network for all I care. As long as they have something that can intercom to see who it is, and buzz the door so they can open it.
PM me or call me if you are interested.

Looks like it has what you need, but it's "Coming Soon!" so maybe not quite ready yet.
This should do the trick, you can provision it as a SIP phone. Just get an installer to wire it up to the door striker (if the door can be remotely opened).

I for one have never found a way to use the Panasonic Door Bell system with anything other than the Panasonic systems. Have a customer who has kept his boat anchor on the wall just to allow the front and back door buzzer to function.
Hope to do a Valcom one of these days. You might look at aiphone as well.

I appreciate the links, but I want someone to physically come and install whatever it is that can buzz people in and out, whether or not it is connected to trixbox. My client wants to take off the panasonic system. Because right now the secretaries have 2 phones on their desks.
I dont know how to install the stuff that I was linked. Thats why I want someone to come and do it for me
Thanks
I cannot do the job but I can tell you what I used before and it works just fine with FXS card.
Take a look at ITS Telecom products.

I used pantel and pancode with TDM2400 and not a single problem in over a year.
Now they have IP versions too, but sometimes is cheaper to use existing wiring and add FXS port to TB.
I'm not in NY either, but here's what I'd do:
1. Set up a line connecting the Panasonic KSU to your trixbox. Run it from one of the KSU channels to an FXO port on your trixbox.
2. Set up the trixbox with a special outbound route to dial the Panasonic KSU. (For example, maybe things prefixed with "61610", for the Panasonic 61610 KSU, would get sent over the Zap/2 line, which would be plugged into the KSU.)
3. Have the secretaries dial "61610xxx", where "xxx" is the 3-digit code on the KSU. I believe "551" opens door 1 and "552" opens door 2. (My memory may be faulty here.) At the very least, they'd be able to dial 61610 and get to the Panasonic's dial tone (as if they had their old phone), then they could do what they did before.
If you want to get fancy, you can setup a misc. destination for that code, so they can dial some other number instead of that big long thing. Whatever you like.
Basically, there's really no need to buy extra stuff when the stuff they have can interface with the new hotness. I mean, yeah, it'd be great if you could toss it and get a fancy SIP PoE thingy, but why fuss with that when you can just tie the two systems together?
The Panasonic is a Key/Hybrid. Run FXO port on Trix to an extension on the Panisonic. Set the doorbell to ringdown the extension Trix is hooked to.
My suggestion for the SIP doorbell device was to get a local installer to place the device by the door and wire it to the door striker. Have them run CAT 5 to the network switch. Then program the device as a normal SIP extension.

I've got a similar setup to yours (minus the door striker, though). I wrote about it earlier here: http://www.trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-forums/trixbox-endpoints/more-fun-...
If you follow that example, I think you'll have it.
I just wanted to say I'm a huge Pratchett fan. I only bring this up because:
A hand where needed.
Sorry if that offends you, you should be proud. :)
KodaK, Im not offended, but you might be
I wasn't throwing your advice back in your face
It's just that I am not capable of doing certain things, but maybe in the future when I can wire an office before they put the walls up- then I can use your link provided
But thanks for trying to help and if you feel offended then I apologize
Looks like I'll have to explain. I was talking to Igor, because Igor is (among other things) a character (really, many characters) in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books.
The Igor in this thread offered to help you, which is what Igors do in the Discworld books. They give "a hand where needed" -- sometimes literally. It's funnier if you read the books. :)
Bah. I haven't slept in over 24 hours, I should give myself a break now.
