New York City, NY Trixbox tech needed
Hi all,
I was planning on doing a trixbox installation myself for my company, but would rather do it along side someone who has more experience than myself.
Need assistance planning the rollout and then in about two months actually installing the equipment. I would like to be part of the installation as i plan on supporting the system for minor issues, but would like to have a local company available if trouble arrises.
For now, the system will support 15 office phones, one fax, and one remote location with one extension and a fax. I am planning on purchasing a Dell PE 1950 and Polycom 501 phones, but am open to other suggestions.
I've been floundering between Pro and CE and would like to discuss the merits of both. I have an old trixbox server currently running that has been up for over a year with no problems on an old version of trixbox.
Looking to do the planning and equipment purchasing in the next two weeks.
Thanks,
Michael Hodor

hi there...
Im in NYC and have deployed a system way bigger than that.
last year i deployed a 150 phone system with a pri and private t1...
give me a PM, we'll talk, and see if we can work something out.
Im back in school now, but if I can find the time Id love to make a little $ and help out
also your coffee store is about 15 min walk from my apt...
ive also been using trixbox for about 2 years now, and asterisk for longer.
i can help you easily deploy this system with little pain and stress
We should all meet up and go for lunch one day..seriously
Anyways, I used a dell power edge 1900 for 10 phones with g729- but they were planning to expand within a year or 2. Now they have 50+ phones using g729.
So magisimo, is your client planning to expand in the future and use g729? That's the only condition that you should get a heavy server like that.
hey everyone,
thanks so much for all the replies.
To answer the few questions:
- I am my own client... I am in charge of all technological development for our company
- We are planning on expanding in the future, hence the PE 1950.
jchuby: i would love to meet up and talk, however I am looking for a company that we can rely on in case we have any urgent support issues. Not ruling your help out, though.
For everyone: i would happily treat everyone to a free cup of coffee if you'd like to come by our shop and take a look. for anyone in the tech industry, you'll definitely appreciate our setup.
If anyone who has replied would like to come by to discuss our needs, please let me know by email. mhodor @ roastingplant.com
Thanks
depends on your schedule of future expansion, I would suggest to get cheap SC440 now and PE 1950 (or whatever it will be at that time) in the future when you really need it.
This way you
1) save money on hardware (it depreciates quickly)
2) you will test new major version of Trixbox on the new hardware before putting it in production
3) after upgrade you can keep SC440 as hot backup with reduced feature set or move it into remote office
