2.4 - First Impressions (2.3.0.1)
Loaded it this morning on a Dell PowerEdge SC-440, and it found all the hardware (Yay!) but sataraid doesn't work yet - loaded it straight and then did a yum update. It downloaded a new kernel (?) and then I started looking around - the new FreePBX looks a little froggy (load it and you will see what I mean) but is a cleaner interface. Package manager says I have to login even though I registered the box, and there is no way to login since I registered. I will load it up with a few spare test phones and a T1 interface this afternoon and post some more results.
Looking good so far! Thanks TB crew!

PHPAGI config module would not update and gave some error saying it required module manager or something like that. After I manually installed the last group of modules on the module admin page I was then able to get PHPAGI config module to update.
I also have the FOP error. I was getting that before on a FreePBX only install so it's probably a FreePBX issue.
Installation was very quick I can confirm the login problem. Changing the repository settings seems to break the gui, at least in IE haven't tried firefox yet. PHPAGI problem is solved by installing all of the other modules first, then PHPAGI. On all three installs it seems that setting the static IP settings using setup failed to update resolv.conf. Keep up the fantastic work!!
Installed OK
Had similar issue with the PHPAGI package 9but resolved the same way (install all others first)
I do get a kernel panic now trying to unload the zaptel module on reboot.
Amportal stop and start replies -
FOP server unable to start (op_server.pl)
Otherwise starting to get there.
Cheers!
Glenn
Yes, changing the repository settings does break the gui for as long as you have the same install both in IE and Firefox....it is very likely to be the same no matter the browser (thus not a browser issue at all). Also cannot log in to display Packages after repeated attempts. There are two NICs on my system but I can only find one NIC so far on the Network Settings page. For some reason, the Module Admin list in FreePBX is short compared to previous. Cannot find where to install MySQL and HUD Server. SugarCRM does not open at all. And as already mentioned, the FOP is giving errors (Couldn't load variables.txt?aldope=24417). We MeetMe gives the error;

Despite, these bug which is quite normal on beta testing the interface seems to get better on every version, and the CentOS 5 has definitely made a difference on being able to finally install trixbox on newer equipment. Well, let's keep helping with testing the beta guys.
You can "fix" the GUI by changing the themes at the bottom. This is being addressed tonight.
Not sure about the second nic yet. I will test that tomorrow on my dual nic system
When the package manager is fixed, you will be able to install everything again
SugarCRM is not installed on the beta builds
WebMeetme is a known issue
Hi All,
I am getting issue with the package loader, when I login and then goes to the package loader. after a while with the progress bar I get the message like "Cannot write to file: Cache/outputYumAvailList.txt"
Is it already reported as a bug Gerry? Or should I report it?
Trixbox Version 2.3.0 beta of course.
Best Regards, Julien
At the risk of incurring the wrath of Kerry "no upgrades" Garrison...
I've already burned the 2.3.0.1 iso image, installed, etc. I'm curious about the transition to 2.3.0.2, and subsequent beta revisions.
Will this be best done 'from scratch' burning a new CD each time, or can it be managed with the package manager? Well, the /next/ update when the package manager is working anyways.
Even with FreePBX 2.3 RC1, FOP and Reports don't work
When I go to reports it says YOU MUST ACCESS THE CDR THROUGH THE ASTERISK MANAGEMENT PORTAL! - Asterisk is up and running and all the modules are updated (except zork, JavaSSH and Gapcast)
Similarly FOP gives Couldn't load variables.txt?aldope=58033
have not tried a reboot after update, I am going to try that.

I ended up installing FreePBX b2 from scratch (minus Trixbox). FOP does work in this case but I had to start FOP manually. For some reason "amportal start" does not start FOP. I think this is planned but they just haven't implemented it yet. For now I have to "amportal start_fop" to get it working. I don't have the Trixbox install anymore but you might want to try that.
I believe the issue with FOP is a permissions one.
The file it complains about is owned by root:root. If you ever try to start FOP manually you are of course logged in as root, and so it can read the file fine. But running Asterisk/httpd/etc as root is a security no-no, so when it's attempt to be started automatically it fails.
I changed the permissions in my 2.3.0.1 and FBPX 2.3RC1 box, restarted, and went to the panel without starting from the command line and it appears to be functioning normally now.
P.S. I'm getting a invalid user/pass when I attempt to login for the package manager now. I'm pretty sure there was a different error for that earlier. I've only updated FPBX and its modules, not modified TrixBox.
P.P.S. Oh, heh, logins are apparently case sensitive =)
Well I can now log into package manager however it's empty, no packages. The other issue is a bit strange. If I navigate to the asterisk info page I see that my extensions are all unavailable. Restarting asterisk or rebootng does not clear this but if I then go into the configuration section, open a file and hit update\re-read the extensions now show their true status. Not the end if the world but I thought I'd point it out. BTW cdr seems to be nor working too. Apart from thos minor issues I still maintain that my test box is running very well, better that previous versions.
Smooth install and operation after a day of use of 2.3.0.1
Two small requests for a novice.
1) Could not find webmin, Had to download
webmin-1.360-1.noarch.rpm myself?
(Can not live without it)
2) Only time I had to manually edit
config files was to add "videosupport=yes"
to sip.conf
Would be nice to have this from GUI somehow?
Thanks for great work!
For Webmin until its in the package manager use:
wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.360-1.noarch.r...
rpm -Uvh webmin-1.360-1.noarch.rpm
Hi Kerry,
Perhaps if you were able to do sticky's "read here first before posting" kind of thing it would minimize the regurgitation.
Also, it would be REALLY nice if these forums took me directly to new posts like they are supposed to instead of having to manually select the last posts.
I just finished installing 2.3.0.1 onto a machine that was "problematic" at best under the older versions and it loaded without a problem. I then started to try to annoy it.
I succeeded.
I left the network cable unplugged and ran netconfig to set a static IP. That seemed to work.
I then ran setup-cisco, setup-aastra, setup-polycom, and setup-linksys as I plan on using these phones with the test system. I also will have a couple of Grandstreams plugged in, but didn't see any point in running setup for them when there is no network access to get the download.
Then I ran genzaptelconf.
Now the box keeps looping and crashes/restarts asterisk. I see:
-generic Asterisk is Free, you get what you paid for" notice.-
Set to realtime thread
Running as group `Asterisk`
Running as user `asterisk`
Asterisk already running on /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl. Use `asterisk -r` to connect.
Asterisk died with code 1.
Automatically restarting Asterisk.
It then loops and does the same thing. Lather rinse repeat.
I hit Ctrl-C which pops me out for a short time but the it does it again. I can quickly type poweroff to shut down the system cleanly though.
Is this a known bug/issue? I don't have any analog or other cards in the box yet and am just trying to pound on the thing to get it to show problems.
Thanks for looking into this.
I set a static IP using netconfig but when I restart the machine it still won't show the IP address after logging in. I don't have a 2nd machine here to see if I can log in via the web interface.
This is with the built in card. I disabled the built in ethernet in BIOS and installed 3 different cards (2 different Intel 10/100 and a 3com 10/100) at different times and they all act the same way. I guess I'll be taking this machine home and seeing if it'll pull from DHCP.
I do get link lights when plugged into the switch and the BIOS sees the cards.
Any thoughts?
I am experiencing the mysterious IP problem also.
I installed 2.3.0.1 defaulted to DHCP I could see my local network. Changed it to a static IP via netconfig and rebooted. Upon login the TB message showed the old DHCP address. Using ifconfig it showed the proper static IP address. Unable to browse or do network name resolution. (I run my own DNS server also!). Ran netconfig again and reset the static ip address. Rebooted..... Logged back in and still same old dhcp address in the welcome screen. Used ifconfig to verify that proper static IP address in place. Can browse out and do name resolution. So it appears something is not taking within TB Beta.
I also verified this behavour on 3 different machine and vmware running on a PC and a MAC
Puzzling
Tom
When I got home I plugged everything up and booted the machine. Even after setting it to DHCP the screen showed http://(blank)
I ran ifconfig and everything looked good, so I went into the web interface and couldn't log into the package manager because there was no login fields.
I ran yum -y update on the CLI and that ran with 1 failure. I restarted and re-ran it without a problem. I restarted and re-tried the package manager but there was no change and could not log on. Still no displayed IP address. It is now set back to static and working OK as far as that goes.
I dont think TFTP is working correctly on the 2.4.0.1 image, it all appears to be there, but the atftp log never shows a thing in it and my phones cant get configs/firmware from /tftproot which they were previously able to.
If I try to connect manually with a client, I just get connection request failed.
Can someone confirm if they have a silimar problem?
Regards
Rich
Not sure if this is the problem but see if tftp server is enabled.
From Linux command prompt enable the tftp server
# nano /etc/xinetd.d/tftp
change “disable=yes” to “disable=no”
(Ctrl-X>y>ENTER)
Restart the tftp server:
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart
If that doesn't work try this:
# /sbin/chkconfig --level 345 xinetd on
# /sbin/chkconfig --level 345 tftp on
Hi mustardman, well I checked /etc/xinetd.d/tftp and disable=no is already set.
chkconfig --level 345 xinetd on
error reading information on service xinetd: No such file or directory
/sbin/chkconfig --level 345 tftp on
Didnt error, but I still got Connect request failed.

Rich
I've installed publicly available 2.3 beta iso, and here's the problems I've encountered:
1. CentOS comes with selinux enabled. That stops FreePBX installation script from running. Show stopper.
2. Asterisk should not be run as a service (from init.d).
- it clashes with amportal script
- it starts too early - zap devices are not present at that stage
3. FOP doesn't start. That's because asterisk account has nologin as its shell, so it cannot run su commands.
4. CDR report fails
- firstly because web app cannot write to /var/lib/php/sessions php sessions directory; resolved by adding asterisk to apache group
- all *mysql modules are missing from /usr/lib/asterisk/modules; asterisk package issue I presume. still unresolved
Apart from that and aforementioned trixbox modules issue, basic functionality works. I have a very basic home setup, and I still need to configure voicemail.
I hope this helps,
Srdjan
System Maint in TB 2.3beta does not display the various process information. All it displays are the Reboot and Shutdown buttons.
Also, is anyone's CDR Reports working in TB 2.3beta? Mine does not display any errors, it just does not filter and display anything at all...simply blank.
I just recently installed 2.0.3.1. When I point browser to the box I get trixbox CE user page. I switch into admin mode ok. When I try access Asterisk->FreePBX I get:
Not Found
The requested URL /admin was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at cvsserver Port 80
Other links under Asterisk menu work OK. How do I correct this problem?
We've wrestled with 2.3.0.1 and gotten some of the oldies but goldies restored including Flite for text-to-speech apps, Music on Hold, and phpMyAdmin for those that need MySQL 5 admin...

According to http://www.trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-forums/open-discussion/trix...
It's September 3 - next Monday.
I've dealt with the xinetd package missing... (installed it)
but some others are missing... like spandsp (for rxfax & txfax stuff) I'm sure there's more.
*edit* I forgot to mention that I did try to install the spandsp package... however, the dependency "libfftw3" is missing. I can't find it anywhere. Guess I need to install gcc/headers & such.
