Re: KDE GNOME

If you're looking for something else than a command-line interface, try WebMin - it's a web-based admin tool for your *Nix/Linux box. Really neat, gives you a lot of tools and pre-scripted installs.

Command to install it: yum install webmin -y

'hope this helps!

Re: KDE GNOME

I'm trying to install GNOME and I get following error when executing
yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"

Error: Missing Dependency: libijs.so is needed by package gimp-print

Please Help

Re: KDE GNOME

Why would you wish to do this???

a PBX is not the place for KDE or GNOME...

ghostscript is not installed

not sure if TB still has the script but try install-pdf
if not yum down ghostscript..

But a word here... as you are not "a linux person" as anyone can tell by your post (I guess you can not use google or search as well)

Why would you want to install a ton of unwanted crap on the box. you will end up with a unstable security hole filled box..unusable as real PBX...

now if you come back and ask how to get this working..well...

as stated in the other WEBMIN / winscp / putty is all u need to add to your TOOLS
webmin for the box
winscp / putty for the windos machines...

(do you think there is a reason that a GUI was not installed by default??)

A PBX NOT workstation....

Re: KDE GNOME

Hi bubbapcguy ,

I understand what you mean but I've an idea and I would like to check if it'll work.

And to complete that, I need x-window environment in order to install a JAVA GUI application.

Thanks for your understanding.

Marc

Re: KDE GNOME

OK have fun..
but if you are looking to "talk" to asterisk
the API from a remote box is the best way..
