LETS DO THIS!!
Okay so here is the deal there is a thread that is a million posts long about a advertising in the gui. I think trixbox has it's pit falls and I wont "fanboy" for the project. Even though I personally (not the company I work for) am heavily opinionated on the open source politics and don;t agree with all the business moves that are made within this project, I do think it is a great project that needs to survive and move forward. Allot of people including you reading this probably depend on trixbox as a system that saved you allot of money over a proprietary PBX or you are a system builder who makes their living by selling products that contain trixbox. Regardless of your use it is up to you to keep this project alive and make it worth while for fonality to keep the doors open. So I am going to make a challenge to everyone to contribute over the next 7 days.
HOW? Any of the following.
1. Cash donation via the link to the left
2. Sign up for ftocc via link to the right
3, Buy hardware from store.trixbox.com (phones cards etc)
4. Write a tutorial or how to for the Wiki
I encourage you all to do one or more of the above items then come back here and toot your own horn about how you helped to motivate others. I would also like to request kerry give any updates on any donations/sign-ups/sales that may happen from people who will just do the above without tooting their own horn....
Lets see where this goes by next Friday.
No. 2 with a "Kodak" finish $50.00
Just kidding Kodak.
I'm going to respectfully ask you to not do this. I contribute what I can: my spare time. If I could afford to donate I would do so, but I'm not made of money, I don't have the discretion within my organization to do so on their behalf, and as much as I'd like to donate from sales: I have yet to make any. I'm an IT guy, not a phone guy and it's been difficult to break into the market (I'm no salesman either.) If you want to call someone out, please do so to someone who hasn't spent so much time trying to help people here.
Hey no disrespect from here. I'm sure you have given back something in the last year or so you have been a member. I've seen you post many times. And I'm sure you have donated something on this list. If not... add it to the list!

I think people would love a way to show how they contribute. BTW trixbox is "SEXIER" than stand alone asterisk. Some people just don't know a good asterisk * when they see one.
It is the trixbox ease of use... that opens the eyes of newbies. I give free iaxy to soldiers at Fort Campbell before they go to iraq and they love "trixbox" and so do their families. Let's talk about donations... Keep up the fantastic work and you guys over there keep using my phone lines all you want for free!!!!!!
Cmclain: That is *outstanding!* It's so awesome to hear how people are helping support our troops in Iraq! I just wish I had thought of doing that. :) Of course, my internet connection wouldn't be able to handle the traffic flow coming from Iraq, since I'm sure they make good use of the talk time, but if I could do something like that, I would .. in a heartbeat. As far as supporting Trixbox goes, I ordered a Rhino single-port T1 card from the Trixbox store. I'm not very pleased with the fact that the store doesn't give updates on the shipping status via email but at least the store website does. I should have my card today. That's the other thing: no tracking info. Kerry, why is there no tracking info on stuff ordered through the store? Or am I the only person who's had this problem?

even did a couple of them a few times, i think i may need a 12 step program.
wouldnt it be awesome if there were no need for ads...
Anyone making money on this product should be in this thread after every sale.
I have donated on behalf of the Space Coast Early Intervention Center of Melbourne Florida. You may have seen Tim Wakefield and ESPN doing their best to support this fine Non-Profit organization dedicated to pre-school age children with physical and mental disabilities.
You can view their home page at www.sceic.com.
I put in place a TB to support 20+ phones using a Sangoma 200D in their brand new building. TB CE and the community made it possible for this organization to save between $16,000 and $20,000. The quotes for a COTS voip switch ran that high. (that did not include the cat6 network or the phones)
I and the school want to thank Trixbox and all the people reading this post because all of you made this possible.
If anybody wants to help pay (at no cost to you) for the new school that I put the TB into please go to www.goodsearch.com for searching the web. If you put the schools name into the section that asks who you support, your searches will automatically donate money to the school at no cost to you. You can see the link to www.goodsearch.com at the bottom of the schools home page. To add www.goodsearch.com to your search engines use http://www.goodsearch.com/Toolbars.aspx. Even if you don't support this school, support somebody. It is free.
Is there anybody else donating this kind of time and technology to non-profits! yell out folks!! If you have not thought about donating time and knowledge to non-profits please consider helping them using Trixbox. Non-profits live on the phone and the costs of using the Telco's is WAYYYYY high. Just find a local non profit that has to raise their own money and put in a Trixbox. You will be helping them to the tune of thousands of dollars a year. Just keep in mind that the complete system has to be strong and redundant so it will stay up and be dependable.
Kerry,
This $200 plus my (as yet) unused support contract of $800 makes a cool grand.
That should pay for at least the first item on my endpoint manager wish list.
:-)
But seriously, you guys are doing great work. I would not criticize if I didn't believe in the project. I would simply drop it.
BTW, check out my trixbox plug in the following article
http://www.crn.com/networking/206504547
NOTE: It's an article supporting Speakeasy VoIP, and I have installations plugged in to trixbox.
A few things on the equipment wish lists:
Good desktop machine for myself (mine is dieing, company supplied me a weak laptop)
PoE switches
Big servers with multi procs and lots of ram that can run multiple VM's easily
External CD burners
Can probably think of some things with more time.
I 100% support the sentiment but I wonder about #4. I've written and updated several wiki articles over the past year or so only to find that they've disappeared (e.g. an obscure example is http://www.trixbox.org/wiki/1104SetupGuide, another was on out-of-box Polycom configuration that is totally gone).
In general, I think the large volume of posts on this forum is a reflection on the poor state of the wiki.
There are many excellent contributors to this site who are held back by the wiki. What are the chances of getting a decent wiki to work with so we can be sure that our contributions aren't lost?
thx, michael
This was another I had posted. It described how to take a polycom 320/330 out of the box and have it autoconfigure with the endpoint mgr:
http://forge.trixbox.org/gf/project/trixbox2/wiki/?&ref_id=4§...
i think they were using a different wiki before that lost the ability to revert changes after someone messed up after so many changes. I cant say when, I think it was december, but a new wiki was implemented that could track changes and revert better and uses media wiki formatting instead of just bb code.
A lot of work was lost - that I made also, but those of us that remember have tried to rebuild as much as possible and promote the wiki - its still slow progress, but it seems to be solid. Heres a push to promote the wiki

(Seemingly) perpetual student pilot here. Maybe if I sell enough Asterisk boxes I can afford rental fees.....
.....speaking of which. I think I'm close to my first, actual, real life sale. Remember I'm a one-man team doing all sales and tech work with absolutely no support, so this is huge for me.
If that sale goes through, expect a small donation to FreePBX and trixbox from me (and I will still suggest the client do so as well.)
Wish me luck.
Hi,
I did a small business install last month with 18 extensions. I got paid at CAD$60 per hour. I got paid last week for my work. And as my thanks to the community, I have just donated 2 hours worth: US$60 to Trixbox and US$60 to FreePBX. (I wish the Paypal exchange rate was more realistic - it seemed weeks old)
Here are the Confirmation Numbers:
017863611V3312746 (Trixbox)
59F18887MB075813Y (FreePBX)
Thanks to all that supports this.
I will request them(The small business) to make a donation as well. Hope they can make a good donation.
In future installs, I will request the businesses to make commitment to donate as well.
Thanks,
Kim
