I'm looking for a recommendation on a phone to use for a smaall office up to 8 users. I have used the grandstream gxp2000 in the past and have so-so feeings about this product. cost is a issue so a phone under $150 each that is a solid performer.

This question has been asked

I would recommend doing a quick search. Within the last couple of weeks a similar question was asked. I believe its a common question.

There were a number of responses:
Polycom 301, 320/330, 501,601
Linksys 942, 962
Asstra 480i (iirc)
Cisco
and a few more...

A number of features were discussed. Several of the manufacturers have a backlight on the SIP phones. Polycom does not. Polycom voice quality is excellent but it's my understanding that its a bit more difficult to configure.

Aastra, Polycom, Linksys

My recommendation.

For price preference.
Linksys SPA941 (2-4 Lines) price under 115
Linksys SPA921 (1 line) under 95
Poe models (are SPA942 and SPA922)

Aastra 51i 9112 9133i are all below 130
Although the more popular Aastra 480i is a little over your set 150

Now for Polycoms
I would certainly go for IP501, but they are above your set target
So that leaves you with IP301, or the new model IP320 both below 120

All are easy to configure, all have setup provisioning from your Trixbox server.

Grandstream GXP-2000? Its really not too bad for the price. This model easily be the most number of business phone deployed based with Trixbox (my opinion).

We have also deployed another very good newcomer business phone EIP-7012, same platform case and platform used by Engenius EnQue. Very good quality and looks! Below 100.

Cisco? uggh, too expensive a toy for me to play, and for users to use (my opinion).

Have fun with Trixbox!

We use the GXP2020

We use the GXP2020 Grandstream. It's in the $120 price range, and gives a ton of features.

you are better off with an Aastra 480i - its features dwarf anything else in the price range, they are right about $150 right now, if you buy them without ac adaptors you can get them for less (if you use POE, this is easy). They have 20 programable softkeys, 9 lines, and the prebuilt xml packages are great. The only issue I have had with them is small rooms (8x10) seem to cause local echo, you can fix this by lowering the side tone volume a notch or so on the receiver - this causes no actual volume change, only lowers the "comfort" volume of the persons own voice.

There are tons of other phones, and everyone has their preference, if you get a Polycom, Aastra or Cisco (pain to config), you will be getting a good phone.
