What happened to Newman Telecom?

The NVFax guys (and gals)?

Researching my NVFax problems on 1.4.11, I came accross an article on nerdvittles that references newmantelecom.com - it is gone - did they drop the domain, or is this projuct just history?

For what I understand, they sold the rights of some of the software to a company that turned it commercial. I do not recall the name of the company though.

I can't go into the terms of the deal, but I am working on bringing back a suite of tools (fax and non fax related).

Found a post on FreePBX.org about getting NVFax to compile with 1.4.11 - Symptom after the upgrade was that any extension that was set to NVFax detect would just hang up after the call - re-compiled, and applied the patch at the site, and got the source from nerdvittles and the problem went away, but now if it actually IS a FAX coming in, it just switches to fast-busy, so I think I am missing part of the picture.

I upgraded my Trixbox 2.2.3 to Asterisk 1.4.11, Zaptel 1.4.5.1 and I have EVERYTHING working except inbound FAX to NVFax - which by the way was working PERFECTLY for us at all our sites - a truly inspired bit of coding there! Am I missing a step?

I haven't seen this before. Can you post CLI output and the part of the dialplan that calls NVFAX?

It was missing SpanDSP - Once I installed that, it tries to answer the FAX call now, but when it does, it gyrates for a minute or so, and then I get a Communications Error on the FAX machine, and I get a "FAX" that's 258 Bytes long (which is garbage of course) and then the sending machine retrys and I get another 258 Byte junk file.

There is a LOT to getting faxing working with Soft DSP's - I am learning...reading several posts, it is unclear if SpanDSP is working very well at all on 1.4 - and I am the only person I have found trying to get it running on 1.4.11 - perhaps others are, but they are not posting any results on what they are doing.

It can be somewhat troubling the first few times around, but you'll get the hang of it. I'm trying to pull some more of the pieces together; hopefully that'll make it a bit easier.

Faxing works so well in Trixbox 2.2.x it's scary - We have a customer that has a box for nothing but fax - over 100 DID's all receiving faxes and forwarding them to e-mail all day long, day in day out - it works perfectly!

nv_faxdetect problems

hi there.

i have a very small problem with nv_faxdetect.
The Program is not resolving one faxnumber. Always from one company, i can not get the faxes...

nv_faxdetect thinks that it is voice and gets it to the talk exten.

Can I do some settings so we can get faxes from this number.
Or is it possible to redirect this number always to the fax exten?
