My install is up and running. I'm running Trixbox 2.2.4 with updated freepbx. I using dell servers and switches, polycom and aastra phones, sangoma and rhino interface cards. Below is my setup:

Warehouse: Ext 81xx
Server: Dell SC440 with a Sangoma A101D T1 card with hardware echo cancel
Phones: 20 Polycom 330, 1 Polycom 4000, 1 Aastra 57i w/sidecar module
ATA: Linksys 5 SPA2102 (Fax and payphones)
Switches: Dell PowerConnect 3424P and 3448P
UPS: Tripplite 2u UPS
Rack: Dell PowerEdge 4210

Remote Office 1 & 2: Ext 82xx & 83xx
Server: Dell SC440 with a Rhino R4FXO card with hardware echo cancel
Phones: 5-10 Polycom 330
ATA: 2 Linksys SPA2102 (Fax in each office)
Switches: Dell PowerConnect 3424P
UPS: Tripplite 2u UPS
Rack: APC NetShelter

All 3 servers are identical, 3.0 Pentium D processors, 2 160 gig HDD in mirror raid, 1 gig Ram. I used the dell POE switches and I love them, yes they are big and loud but they are designed to go into a server room and not an office. The Polycom 330 sip ip phones are great to work with and the built in speaker phone is awesome! The Polycom 4000 sip ip conference phone sounds great. I used the Aastra 57i with 30 ext sidecar module. It is used as the reception phone with cell phone numbers, business numbers and office ext programmed into the sidecar for easy transfer.

The remote offices are going to be trunked together with IAX. One test remote site is up and the trunk works perfectly over the Internet.

I’ll be honest, I had faith that trixbox would work as tested, however when it was time to put up or shut up and that PRI was activated, I was just a little white hoping all would work! But low and behold it worked!! It was all so easy to setup and hookup I kept second guessing myself. I run a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 Premium for our main data network and trixbox sits on that network just fine. My windows server does all the DHCP with static’s assigned to all phones and servers. No issue with data and voice on the same network, all servers are gig nics into gig ports on the switches. For now trixbox backups are on the server but am going have them sent to an internal FTP server that is backed up with my data backups.

As of today the server has been up and running for just over 3 weeks without restart and without issue. The main trixbox server runs between 700-800 min of calls a day. Voicemail, call queues, music on hold, IVR’s and time conditions all work like they should. We have the linksys ATAs hooked to our fax machines with DIDs assigned and they worked perfectly with trixbox and the PRI first time around. The end users love the system and all the features. For me it is nice to get my voicemail in my email and cell phone due to this being a part time job and I’m not in all the time.

Even with all the hardware we bought for this project, it was still a lot cheaper then a traditional PBX system. It would have cost us more to just setup the warehouse then the entire trixbox setup. When it came down to it, it was cheaper to go with trixbox: have all the features, setup the 2 remote locations and the warehouse, consolidate all our phone lines in the PRI, and have no maintenance contracts then to setup 1 traditional PBX in the warehouse and nothing else!

How great is Trixbox!

Thank you to all that have answered my questions and others in the forums.

No Dispute

Absolutely NO DISPUTE to your statement, GaryV

You have a fantastic setup there, do you!

A good Trixbox, should also be matched with equally good machine and components, and good skills, and most important --- INTEREST in what you are doing! It definitely takes great interest to get that those 3 machines working perfectly together!

Kudos!

Quick question

You have the drives on your SC440 mirrored. Did you use the sataraid command during install, or a hardware RAID solution provided by Dell?

I'm about to begine three preojects this spring and I'd like to use some real hardware and I enjoy the poweredge line for other applications.

Thanks
Floyd

I just used the sataraid on

I just used the sataraid on install and make sure I pull the backups off the trixbox server and add them to my windows network backup.
