I've already posted about this problem a few years ago, however to no avail.

I have been given a Cisco UBR924 cable router, and would very much like to connect it to my trixbox setup as a trunk. I have very limited experience with Cisco gear, I have played around with a few ATAs and had a brief look at CM, but that is as far as my knowledge goes. I've managed to connect to the box over a serial connection on my trixbox (using screen), and have reset the device to its defaults. It is running IOS 12.1(1).

Essentially, I need a guide to help me to understand how to connect this device to my existing setup.

Regards,

George

12.1 only supports h.323.

12.1 only supports h.323. Unless you are a glutton for punishment you I would not even attempt to get 323 support working with trix.

A quick look at the Cisco Software Advisor shows that 12.3 is requited for SIP.

ubr925-k9o3sv9y5-mz.123-17c.bin
Release Date: 25/Apr/2008
PERF VOICE-H323-MGCP-SIP/FW/IPSEC 3DES
Size: 7632.02 KB
Minimum Memory: DRAM:32MB Flash:8MB

I could not find a version with SIP and a smaller footprint.

Enter the command 'show ver" from the router to see how much ram/flash you have.

Guess what, you can't

Guess what, you can't upgrade the Flash in the 924. So you are really stuck. Only the 925 supports SIP.

While this document clearly states that a 12.2 train with SIP exists for the 924

Quote:
Cisco IOS Release 12.2 supports the MGCP 0.1, SGCP 1.1+, SIP, and H.323 protocols on these platforms:

•Cisco 2600 series modular access routers

•Cisco 3640 and Cisco 3660 multiservice platforms

•Cisco AS5300 universal access server

•Cisco uBR924 cable access router

•Cisco Voice Gateway 200 (VG200)

I can't get the software tool to find an image that matches that feature set for the uBR924.

Looking....

Thanks

Thanks Scott,

This is why I prefer the open source community! I got onto a cisco irc channel... not the most helpful lot.

I'm going to keep looking around too. Here is the show ver info:

Links

Sorry to double post -

Somebody has definitely used 12.2 on a one of these, supposedly using ubr920-k1o3sv4y556i-mz.121-27a.bin.

Have a look in the comments section of this blog post:
