Grandstream HT488 PSTN is DEAD

Hi all,
I've just got a HT488 at work and i'm trying to get it set up, it mostly seems ok but on incoming PSTN calls the unit simply does not respond -
No flashing green light to indicate ringing
No events in the syslog
Nothing in the logs on the SIP PBX to indicate an attempt to ring (registers ok)
The FXS phone does not ring
None of the settings i have changed have made any difference whatsoever. I'm using firmware 1.0.3.99, but i also tried 1.0.3.96 which made no difference.

For those who need to know (googling certainly did not help me)
I downgraded the firmware to 1.0.3.86, this at the time was downloadable from
http://grandstream.org/firmware.html
As soon as i did this, it worked immediately, i suspect it may have something to do with the phone system here in the UK but i may be wrong.
