I just installed it myself. Works great, and it's free.

Process of Installing
http://www.fring.com/iphone/
This application is meant for jailbroken iphones only.

Update, after you dial out, the dial pad disappears, for good. So no IVR's or voice mail checking until they come out with a new version.

not so great....

I got it to connect to my Trixbox 2.2 at the office, i could place rather choppy calls to the other extensions, but was unable to receive calls on the sip client on my iphone

seems like a good start though a bit buggy.

fsit, did you do anything

fsit, did you do anything special to get fring to register on your trixbox? I just downloaded Fring and installed it today, tried to set up a connection but it won't register - it keeps telling me to check my user/password.

No problem....

For me. It was just like configuring any sip phone. I just used the extension number and secret.

Yeah, that's what I figured,

Yeah, that's what I figured, and tried, but no go. Which version of Fring do you have? What version of Trixbox do you have?

Sure

The same you would use in configuring any sip phone.

User ID: 100 / extension
Password: 123456 / secret
Proxy: 127.0.0.1 / the ip of your pbx

Ok, thanks again. I thought

Ok, thanks again. I thought there might have been some special syntax like extension@yourip or something like that. I still can't get mine to work.

thanks.

I have no problems

With making and receiving a call. I know they came out with an update recently. I haven't had any problems outside of the fact that when you are on a call there is no keypad to send DTMF tones.

iPhone Not 3G!

The call quality will be very poor using the EDGE network, just like if you tried to do VOIP over DialUp.

My roommate has a TILT with Windows Mobile 6 and the AT&T 3G Network here in Phoenix is fast enough to support near flawless communication to my home Trixbox using Fring as the client. Only complaint is that it takes about 2 seconds once the call is connected for the audio stream to get brought up. Also, if you leave the phone registered with Fring running, your battery will last less than half of normal.
