Configuring trixbox for a specialized service offered by Bell Canada

Greetings all.

Let me explain the subject line. I work at a company that has Venture phones that are specific to the service we've subscribed to from Bell. The service provided by Bell allows us to have a main phone number with two lines and as I understand it calls roll over to the second line when the first one is in use. Bell also provides voicemail and call display.

I've implemented a trixbox that's using a VOIP trunk and the phones here are Grandstream 2020. I was going to transfer the number to the VOIP provider but I discovered that we're in a contract for another year and a half and the terms make breaking the contract cost prohibitive for at least another year. I should also mention that I've installed a Sangoma card with three FXO ports enabled so we can have a fax line and a backup land line if the internet goes down.

What I would like to do is hookup the land lines to the trixbox and make it work with the service that Bell Canada is providing so we can get rid of one set of phones and all be on the same system. I know that the system works internally by using 2 of 3 pairs of wires in the cable they provide.

Anyone have any recommendations on how I might go about getting this done or any ideas about what I might be able to do in this situation to integrate the systems?

All help is appreciated.
Thanks

Joe

Simple stuff

Nothing to the config.

Please read my wiki here on analog phone ports http://www.trixbox.org/wiki/fxofxs

  1. Purchase a Rhino, Sangoma or Digium TDM400p compatible analog card with 2 FXO ports
  2. Wire the first pair (blue/white) to line 1 on the analog card
  3. Wire the second pair (orange/white) to line 2 on the analog card
  4. Disable voice mail from Bell Canada

That's all there is to it!

Thanks Scott. I did consider

Thanks Scott.

I did consider that but did not know if I would lose the functionality. I know that our main line and the line that the system rolls over to are actually two different phone numbers so, in the case where I wire up the lines to the Sangoma TDM400p (that's the one I have but with three FXO ports), if line 1 (main line) was busy and someone else tried to call the main line would it roll over to line 2? If that's the case then I guess you're also saying that the rollover process happens on Bell's side not by the phones. In that case it does make it simple.

That's very helpful, I'll give it a try.
Cheers.
