Anybody out there using internal FXO card for PSTN connectivity and providing surge protection? I am using a 4xMCO surgegate passive device to protect the trunk ports on the card from potential lightning strikes coming in to the system through the POTS lines. It appears that now that I have that unit between the phone jacks and the TDM card, I am experiencing occasional dropped calls. Is anyone else seen this issue? I am wondering if it is possible that there are some tweaks on the digium card that I need to change now that the trunks are going through a surge protection device. Comments welcome.

We install surge supressors everywhere

We are using Polyphaser protectors that we wire right on the 66 block where the bridge clips go. They use Silicon Avalanche Diode technology. Part Number IS-6PTL They are expensive but well worth it.

Most are on DS-1 lines however I have two customers with TDM-400 cards without any trouble.

These are US POTS lines.
