Specify CallerID by Outbound Route instead of by SIP trunk
Hi Kids!
I am a somewhat-long-time (3 yr) happy user of Telasip (and would highly recommend them), I have recently completed my upgrade to TB-CE 2.6.1 and all is well, But there is something I would like to figure out.
I have a MA and SC phone numbers, both through Telasip, I have family in both areas and use these inbound numbers regularly, I would like the ability to setup particular outbound trunks to dial out via my single SIP trunk, specifying the local Outbound CID . (I really just mean adding the ability to specify CID on the route as opposed to the trunk, which is more flexable)
I tried this by setting up multiple outbound SIP trunks, all going to Telasip, it worked sometimes, but it messed up outbound calls randomly (busy, unavailable), so it's been undone.
I hate to write all the scripts for custom routes, because I get lost easily and the menus have come SOOOO far in Trix, there is very little I needed to edit to get my system working (Multiple Aastra 57i's, Cisco 7960's, ATA's, Cisco 2821 w/4 port FXO & PVDM for failover POTS), but if someone has a simple road-map to achive what I desire, I'd appreciate the help.
Thanks
Tim
Hi John,
Telasip lets you specify CID as anything you feel like. Sometimes I use 1 888 555 1111 (porn) when I call friends :)
No, I want to specify my outbound callerID on the outbound route, and pass that information to the trunk (SIP Provider or PRI) instead of specifying the CID on the trunk.
That way I can do custom outbound routes like the following: when I call Massachusetts (1508XXXXXXX, 1617XXXXXXX, etc), I show as my Mass Number, I call South Carolina (1864XXXXXXX) or other Southern areas, I show as my SC Number. Both routes point to the same trunk, they just give a different CID number.
So, regardless of the trunk, all I want is CID custom control BEFORE the trunk
I wish it was a field in the outbound route, but the only feature similar to it is the "intra route" which forces all CID to be set as the extension, which is a useful feature in that situation, but not in mine.
If someone could give a hint of what script to edit manually, I'll just do it.
Tim
Look for the Outbound Groups context. Unfortunately it will require you to use an external prefix (like 9 for instance) to dial out, but it works great and lets you specify CID at Route level.
