HUD Refuses to launch on Windows XP

Hey guys,
I have a co-worker who has been unable to install HUD on his workstation. Its a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with Windows XP Pro SP2. When he installs the client it appears to install fine, but when you attempt to launch the client, the splash screen appears, then the application quits. We are not able to configure the application or login to a server. We just get a splash screen, then nothing. We have tried several things to make this work including:
Uninstalling all Java VMs on the workstation, rebooting, then installing HUD and the JVM which comes with it.
Using Regmon/Filemon to view what is going on while the application is launching. I do not see any specific errors.
Uninstalling and Reinstalling with many different options.
Even with all this, we have been unable to get HUD to launch.
Is there anything else we should try?
