Puzzle of the Day: HUDlite and HUDserver Cannot Connect and Polycom SoundPoint IP 550 not "registered"

Hello. I installed trixbox Pro SE 1.1.3 on my server (116792), which seems to run fine (obtains local IP address from router, sees the SIP and can ping web sites). I configured the server and one phone extension via cp.trixbox.com and installed/configured HUDlite on a client box, using the Server Name (s116792.trixbox.fonality.com) and the Server Password (Z_______) given in the installation e-mail sent by trixbox. Although the Polycom phone (SoundPoint IP 550 -- almost exactly the same as the 601) is recognized, it's not "registered". HUDServer is installed, enabled and running (as is IRC server). I am able to telnet port 6600 from the server, which is connected to a 4-port router, as is the client machine (Windows Vista). The client machine (Vista) cannot telnet to "s116792.trixbox.fonality.com 6600", though, even though I opened port 6600 in the firewall and also allowed HUDLite through the port.

Can anyone solve this puzzle?

Also, I think I may have to edit a config file for the Polycom SoundPoint IP 550), since it doesn't seem to be auto-updated by my trixbox server. Would you let me know how/where I can edit this?

Thanks very much!

Cheers,
Jason

Two answers

1. When connecting with HUDlite or HUDpro remotely (either on separate subnet or entire different network from trixbox Pro server) you need to add an "x" to your server name. So instead of: "s116792.trixbox.fonality.com", use: "s116792x.trixbox.fonality.com". Note the "x" after the server number!

2. The new Polycom phones (550, 650, 320, 330, etc.) are not yet certified with trixbox Pro. You can probably get them to work but our QA has *not* tested them. However, they *will* work with trixbox Pro 2.0 which is launching this month. :)
