I'm a Windows tech trying to do a test & evaluation of trixbox box. Also I have never used Linex.

I have an Aastra 57i CT phone I'm struggling to setup. I can not get the Screen Name & Sreen Name 2 to show on the screen of the phone using the GUI. Using the setup through the phone the display name is the extension phone number. The firmware has been resently updated

Using putty.exe I'm trying to check the Aastra 57i CT phone on the Trixbox Pro.

root@trixbox106622~}# asterick -r
-bash: asterick: command not found

If, I type the first line in the Trixbox Pro I get the same reply.

If, I try to do a echo test dialing *43 Called Failed on the phone is display and a busy signal is heard.

Where can I go to make VOIP configuration easier for me? What do I have to read, what internet site should I being going to? I there a instruction manual for Trixbox Pro?

I'm getting very tired of wondering around in the dark trying to set something with no information.

Also, the subject of

Also, the subject of Asterisk encompasses a lot of disparate concepts, software packages and hardware. It can be very frustrating starting out, especially if you don't know anything about Linux. You're going to have to be patient with yourself and the community, because there is a very steep learning curve ahead of you that you're going to have to climb.

The problem isn't that there's a lack of documentation, the problem is that you don't know enough yet to know how to find the documentation for the particular thing it is you're having trouble with. Given enough time, it will click for you.
