Hello trixbox with call center here. We are trying to get the phones connected and registered to the new box. we enter the mac for the phone. the trixbox found the phone on the network, but it says it is not registered, comes up red in the extensions tab. Any ideas?
Are these not plug and play or simple as described in the demo/tech documents? Could someone please describe how they do this to a new box? Thanks for your time.

Hey WRC,

What version of firmware do you have on your 480i's? Do you have Option 66 on your network? Do you see the phones attempting to download configuration files?

Thanks,
Mike

He should have said "DHCP

He should have said "DHCP Option 66" which would have given you more of a clue. Option 66 lets the DHCP server specify a tftp server to the client machines to pull configuration data from. You don't need to do this if the DHCP server is the tftp server, but in many cases it is not.

Also, sadly, many devices do not support option 66 for their built in DHCP servers. There are ways around this, but I'm not going to go into them right now, as you may have it on your device.

If you cant do DHCP Option

If you cant do DHCP Option 66 then go into the web configuration of the phone, find the field for "Configuration Server" and put in the ip address of the trixbox system.
