Problem updating configuration

Hi

I've just installed a fresh copy of Trixbox Pro SE. Unfortunately, configuration changes I make on the web interface aren't being uploaded to my server.

"Configuration failure: We have tried to transfer the recent configuration changes you have made in this software down to your premise trixbox Pro server. Normally, this occurs instantly, but for an unknown network reason, the changes have not yet reached your server. We will automatically try to transmit them again in 15 minutes. When we succeed, this message will disappear. However, you may continue to safely make changes while you see this message!"

Is this a common problem/error? Is it likely to get better by itself?

Many thanks,
Alex

Alex, These messages can

Alex,

These messages can occur from time to time, depending on how long it takes for the updated files to be uploaded to your server. It could be due network connectivity issues, latency, or any number of networking glitches. As the message states, it should clear itself up in approximately 15 minutes. What it does mean, however, is that any changes you have made will not take effect until the updates are copied up.

If you would like us to take a look at your system, please let us know your server id so we may connect.

Thanks,

Ben

Configuration Failure

Hello,

I recently deployed Trixbox Pro and notice the "Configuration failure" message after nearly every change. The server is on a dedicated IP with all ports open. I checked the connection between our server and your endpoint and don't see any packet loss. It seems that sometimes waiting 15 minutes doesn't do the trick, and changes aren't propagated for up to an hour. Is there any information I can provide about our account or server that would help you diagnose connectivity issues?

Thanks

Same Failure Here

Hay all...

After 15 minutes the message did not go away. I am still waiting for it to sync. It's been over an hour and I am still waiting.

I bought the Linksys BEFSR81 that the site suggested. I also hung the pro box on the DMZ so I should have no problems with ports.

Any help would be awesome.

My username is tbadmin118178 if that helps. I think it's my customer number also not sure though.

Thanks

Michael

Michael, In looking at your

Michael,

In looking at your system I found the following:

1. Your system's crontab was empty, this has crucial processes for syncing.
2. Apache, and XPL's required for syncing were not installed properly on your system.

I suspect there are other area's where the installation failed. To remedy this situation I recommend the following:

1. Run a Mediacheck on the CD that you used to install the system
2. Re-install the system using known-clean media. Be sure that your internet connection is not interrupted during the activation process.

Thanks!
Mike

Thank you.

I have downloaded Pro on 3 different computers and burned it 15 to 20 times on 24X down to 4x and I can not get a CD that does not fail. Is it possible to get a CD from Fonality? I have had this error when doing the Media Check for about 2 months and can not get a good copy from either home or at my office.

I thought that that might be the problem Thank you so much for checking my server. You ROCK in my book.

Any chance I can buy a CD? or maybe someone would mail me one and I will pay them.

michael@tservgroup.com

edit: After thinking about my answer i decided to load a different CD burning software on my home computer. I use the same on all my computers both at home and work. So after loading a new CD burner software. I finally got a clean CD. Thank you Mjoice. I feel like a dolt for spending 2 months using bad software.

Hi...

Just an update...

If I have changed my Root password or any other security, will this keep you (support) from logging into my machine to check on things?

Thanks...

Root Password

No it should not. They will be checking the settings on their server not yours.

Looking at your system, it looks like this has been resolved.

However, for all users, we will be adding post-activation testing+auto-resolution of any critical, missing files that would cause issues like this. This new healing software will be released this week!

I have had someone with Fonality already reproduce the issue last week, but they are not of the technical nature. However, if someone could take a look and see why mine is giving the same error i would appreciate it.

I think I should have been

I think I should have been more direct with my statement. Why wasn't this fixed in 2.0?

As eloquently put in this forum:
http://www.trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-pro/trixbox-pro-help/config...

It would appear that most of the these configurations failures are due to the server ssh key changing ( known hosts ), since you guys do a SCP to push files down the pipe.

This is easily resolved by using the SSH option StrictHostKeyChecking=no

I should probably rescind

I should probably rescind part of what I said. Looks like the 2.0 fix was directly related to a race condition with submenus. Even so, when calling support, all of my problems, sync related, have been related to trixbox storing my ssh key in known hosts.

Hmmmm. Not sure whats happened, but I went to make a change to the same server (121049) and its now having configuration failure errors again. I have a support ticket open for this issue: (#1021888). Hope you can get onto this relatively quick as this is our Demo server we show our customers.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Kevin,

We are unable to sync sip.conf to your system because it is marked as immutable on your file system. This means it cannot be modified, even by the root user:

> [root@trixbox121049 asterisk]# lsattr sip.conf
> ----i-------- sip.conf

You can turn this off by running the following command:
> chattr -i sip.conf

Then we will be able to sync sip.conf properly down to your system.

Thanks,
Mike

Same issue - new installation

Hi there,

We have just installed the latest Trixbox on an HP dx2300 (certified) and are receiving the same error, namely:

"Configuration failure: We have tried to transfer the recent configuration changes you have made in this software down to your premise trixbox Pro server. Normally, this occurs instantly, but for an unknown network reason, the changes have not yet reached your server. We will automatically try to transmit them again in 15 minutes. When we succeed, this message will disappear. However, you may continue to safely make changes while you see this message!"

I made the "StrictHostKeyChecking no" change to the ssh config suggested above and restarted sshd, but this does not seem to have resolved the issue.

From the posts above, it would seem someone needs to resync our sever - our server ID is 122293, Trixbox Pro SE.

Also, should I remove the change made to SSH?

Cheers,

Jake

I installed this yesterday, and the configuration failure alert has yet to go away. Is there a way we can remedy this situation ourself? Instead of opening a support case or coming onto the forum for help? The server id 118308.

79tank & zwizard &

79tank & zwizard & jdwan,

Your systems were up to date, there were no files out of sync on your systems. There is currently a race condition that adds items to the syncing queue that don't actually need to be there, and since they are already in sync - there is no attempt for them to be synced. This will be fixed in an automated way soon, but I resolved this for you right now.

Thanks
