Is there any way to update firmware and/or configure Cisco 7960 phones without having the ability to set Option 150 or 66? Can someone explain what these options are? Are these options built into Trixbox/CentOS software?

You can set these options in

You can set these options in trixbox DHCP server options, they tell the phones where to locate tftp server.

This is my first Trixbox

This is my first Trixbox machine, so I am not experienced with the sofware...

How do I do that? I have Trixbox Pro SE.

Cisco 7960 upgrade

A while ago I wrote a fairly detailed how-to covering upgrading Cisco 7940 and 7960 phones. Hope this will help you: http://cat24.net/Cisco_Sip_Phones.html

If the device that delivers

If the device that delivers DHCP on your network is capable, you can set the options there too. Unfortunately, actually how to do this differs per device.

I don't think my netgear

I don't think my netgear router is capable of setting options. I have read that I can setup a DHCP server and set the options on the Trixbox Appliance.... Is this possible? Is it difficult?

Cisco 7960 upgrade

You don't need to use option 150 or 66 to upgrade or configure the 7960. You can access the settings of the 7960 using the phone keys - then set the tftp server address to point to your tb server. The phone will pick up the files from the tftpboot directory if you have put the setting there. With trixbox CE the endpoint manager does that, I don't use PRO. My how-to describes the process that works with the CE edition.
