Unable to finish activation

I have tried 4 different network cards, and have checked the hardware compatability list. I install, and on the first boot after, it says it can't bring up eth0. I get up to the INactive Login prompt and try to activate. It won't get a dynamic address, the static address won't work, and I can't progress past this screen to lod drivers or do any other troubleshooting. Anyone have any idears?

Is it possible you have more than one network card in the system? If so, it may think your other network card is eth0. Also, you said you checked the hardware compat list, so you are in fact using compatible hardware?
Also, you've probably already done this but make sure the cable is good, plugged into a working port of your switch, etc..

I tried first with the onboard which is not on the list. I have since tried 4 other cards. 2 of them I bought today specifically off the list. I have disabled the onboard. One of the cards I got today wasn't detected. The other one was, but no network traffic, fails on boot after it is recognized.
Is there a way to load drivers during the setup? I didn't see anywhere to do so.
