SPA 942 not registering

For the past few days three of eleven Linksys SPA942 phones are not registering, and so are completely useless. The four buttons light yellow rather than green. I have rebooted and restarted the phones, but no improvement.

I can browse the phones' web interfaces by their IP addresses. In fact, shortly before the problem started, I browsed all the phones and changed "Speakerphone Input Gain:" on the Phone tab from "0" to "6" which someone (incorrectly) reported as solving the puny speaker problem.

Any ideas about solving this?

i just installed 8 of these

i just installed 8 of these today, can you send me your config? i can take a look. are you using the endpoint manager? there is not alot of config opn these devices.
sip proxy, username, password and they should register
are you using provisioning?

What does "registration" mean?

They won't register, but don't need to register

Nothing changed on the phones to cause this problem; I did boost the "Speakerphone Input Gain:" on Phones tab, and it did not affect the other phones.

What worked is on Ext 1 tab:
Make Call Without Reg: "yes"
Ans Call Without Reg: "yes"

I never saw anyone say that this should be set to "yes" nor do I understand why these 4 phones need this change. Any comments welcome.

It does not work so well

The phones' lights are green. They can call out. They do not ring and are "unavailable" to incoming calls.
