Aastra 480i Missing Softkeys

After a phone reboot, which triggered a firmware "upgrade", two 480i's no longer have any softkeys. There aren't any entries on the screen next to the soft keys and the soft keys don't respond.
Before I go back to the previous firmware, are there any other t-shooting steps to take?
