Hey,
Just a quick question. If I can only setup and program one XML config file for Aastra phones, what happens if have the Aastra 57i and 9133i phones on my audio network.
For example, the 57i and 9133i phones have different buttons etc.

How can I cope with this and program the different features? I would like to provide a different configuration for the 9133i and the 57i phones. Or am i getting the wrong end the stick here? Cheers all.

Aastra phones have two

Aastra phones have two config files, aastra.cfg and an individual MAC.cfg.

What you do is put the most general stuff in aastra.cfg, then extension specific (or phone type specific) stuff in the phone's MAC.cfg.

I wrote a perl script a long time ago that takes a csv with extension, name, phone type, etc, and generates a MAC.cfg for each phone, making creation a lot easier (and more flexible than the trixbox endpoint manager, as long as you're using Aastra phones -- but it's easily adaptable in theory.)

If you're interested it's around here somewhere, or I can do some digging.

if you use the new version

if you use the new version 2.0 of the aastra xml package, it does just what you desire, it maintains seperate button layouts specific to each model. the new template is in /var/www/html/aastra/asterisk/trixbox.prf - this can be used in conjunction with aastra.cfg
