Aastra DECT 142
I've seen this question posted here several times with no answer. Is there anyway to apply U.S. style dialtone and ringing patterns to this phone. So far i have been very dissapointed with this phone. I still haven't found an easy way to do a consultative transfer which is needed to park calls. Is anyone using these phone successfully in a large install? The manual also leaves out any info on firmware upgrades.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Matt
We are using 14 of these in a maufacturing environment. They work great for us. We have 2 access points configured which gives up about 30k sqft of coverage. We were told we would get better coverage then this but at this point we'll spend the extra money to add two more because of the success we've had so far. These phones don't have alot of programable functions, but if you know the trixbox commands they work just fine and are fully functional. As for having the US style ringtone and pattern, There's a setting in the web based software config which allows you to select country code we did this, we never had an issue. just make sure you set the proper country and dial codes when configuring the main access point and it should work great. Be aware though that you need to backup your config file to a TFTP server and have it up and running 24/7 incase of power failure, the access points will not retain any info after a power loss. Also, We did download the latest software from Aastra and updated these phones, the new software is a bit more streamlined and easier to use.
Matt,
Did you get your transfer & firmware issues fixed? I'm seriously considering implementing the Aastra SIP-DECT solution, and I'm wondering how things are going for you.
Have you tried any other GAP-compatible handsets with the RFP you bought?
Thanks,
jermudgeon
We didn't get these working and ended up returning them. We just had too many issues and couldn't get GAP compatible handsets to work at least the three I purchased. I can't recommend them. Although it sounds like my rfp may have had some issues. But personally I found there administration software very cumbersome. We will be using the engenius durafon pro line of analog handsets.

Hy Matt,
to set a coutry dialtone you can set the country code
by OM Configurator if you use a local IP configuration or via DHCP.
In the OM Configurator just go to add parameter > country
The US dialtone has the number 100
Via DHCP you need to set the code 17 into the vendor specific option 43.
also with the value 100 for US so add 11 02 00 64 into you option 43
(11=hex for option 17, 02= length, 00 64 h= 100dez)
A call transfer with the AASTRA SIP DECT solution is only possible
if you use a 142d handset (using the "i" key)
with a GAP handset this can be done only with the callserver
e.g. procedure or script. [at this time ;-)]
regards
Julian
