Are you saying this new

Are you saying this new firmware (v2.2.1) is also available for the 9133i? Looking on your website, the firmware is listed as avaiable for download for the 5x series only––it is not on the 9133i page.

??

Agit8or, what new phones are you referring to? If you mean the 5xi series, they've been out for quite some time and there are plenty of specs and photos available at www.aastratelecom.com

The new phones, 9480i,

The new phones, 9480i, 9480iCT and 9143i have the same plastics as the legacy phones, such as the 480i, 480ict and 9133 but support the newer 2.x software and therefore the newer features.

Data sheets

When will your website have data sheets on the 9480 and 9143?

Do you have a date when the 9143i will hit your channel partners? My sources do not have the SKU's listed yet.

Thanks...Scott

Does this mean we will see

Does this mean we will see no further firmware development for the 9133i? I purchased one in September with the hope of being able to create a XML script that would display the status (light on/off) of a specific function within Asterisk; will this never be possible?

This is really good news!

This is really good news! Customers here always love the look of the 480i, as a result we sell alot more 480i's than the 5x series. Can't wait!

From my discussions with

From my discussions with Aastra, the 9133i will most likely never be able to control LED light statuses through XML. That's why there's the 9143.

disapointing

That is very disapointing--I replaced a Linksys SPA942 with the 9133i as it seemed to be more configurable. If there is no further enhancements to the 9133i, I wonder if Aastra would be willing to offer some sort of trade-up program. I know this is not a good business model and that they are in no way required; however, it would make for some very happy, loyal customers!

Aastra is firmly on the ball, so it wouldn't surprise me if they would entertain such a proposal.

Next week

I believe we should have the information on 9480i, 9480iCT and 9143i on the web next week. The industrial design is the same as the current classic range of phones: 480i, 480iCT and 9133i. However, they will use the 2.x software stream and have the features associated with 2.x stream.

The classic range of phones are still being manufactured and still supported. As you are probably aware some features cannot be implemented on the original classic phones (480i etc, release 1.4.x) due to processor/memory restrictions.

As for any promotions, I'm not too sure...I'm an engineer :-) the marketing folks will probably release any of that kind of info in the next week or 2.

Cheers

Kieran

Kieran, Thanks for the info.

Kieran,

Thanks for the info. Anything you can do to influence the marketing folks would be very much appreciated. Too bad these older phones don't have the MIPS to handle the new f/w load...

That's great news as I think the 480i and 9133 are probably my personal favorites. Now if the 9480 would get a color screen. :D
