Sangoma with Aastra and Cisco
I have an office in Fresno that uses true analog lines (not analog lines off an IAD type devices) with a Sangoma analog card running trixbox 2.6.0.5 and has been on Cisco phones since the installation. We recently have been installing Aastra 57i phones and they are loads better when it comes to features. The two offices that have Aastra phones are still using a Sangoma analog card but they are analog ports off an IAD device and running trixbox 2.6.0.7.
The issue I am having is the Fresno office had a Cisco phone stop working so I sent an Aastra to replace it. That extension is experiencing "snow" noise and echo when talking to an external caller. Internal to internal calls are fine. Any ideas? I have connected an Aastra phone from my office over a VPN to the Fresno office and made calls and experienced the same problem remotely. Surely mixing the two brands shouldn't have an effect.
I guess I am just looking for a place to start looking at? Lines, Analog card, Phone?
Thanks.
Just the Aastra phone gets the noise and echo? Strange, but I guess it's possible that the Cisco phones have an echo cancellation, or an echo cancellation superior to the Aastra built into them that is suppressing the echo on your POTS lines. What kind of Sangoma card is it? Does it have onboard echo cancellation? If you connect an analog phone directly to the line, does it have noise also?
