transfer to intercom??

For 5i phones, is there a way to make the default transfer action do an immediate offhook to intercom?
but still have outside callers make the phone ring?
i know you can press xfer, then press icom, but these users dont like to press too many buttons.
for instance the secretary gets a call, then hits xfer, then intercom/ext number and yells at the boss - "hey your wife is on the line" - hey says "ok, pass her on", when the secretary hangs up, the wife is then on the intercom.

For small setups I've just created a number of paging extensions that coincide with the user's original extension, ie. 101>701, 102>702, etc..
I looked into customizing the from-internal context to add the auto-answer sip header to internal calls, but found it to be a bit trickier than I had anticipated. I still think this method would be possible, just haven't had the time to play with it.
