We have lots of Aastra phones deployed in meeting rooms and a killer application would be to allow the Aastra phone in the room to query an Exchange Free/Busy calendar and display the rooms availability. Not sure how and if this is possible. Having the ability to ad-hoc book the room by pressing a softkey would be awesome!.

hmmm... that would be interesting. I'm sure it could be done somehow. Exchange busy/free has a web engine that I'm sure could be hooked. I don't know how, but that would definitely be interesting.

This can be done using WebDav

Definitely, it is doable as Exchange supports a WebDav interface. We use it internally at Aastra, the only trick is that the XML apps must have the right to access to the OUtlook resource so it needs authentication parameters such as super-user rights if you want to manage more than one conference user.

We will make it part of the next batch of XML apps.

I have the foundation for

I have the foundation for this completed, including access to a user's contact list. Tested on Exchange 2003 (forms authentication) and 2007 (needs webdav turned on), but should work on 2000 as well. Some of the most not-so-fun programming I've done...

Come to the event in Vegas on May 20. There are a few spots left and air fare is still cheap to Vegas from major metros!
