Can't connect to HUD server

I'm testing the HUD Lite on a VM Ware version on my laptop. I installed the HUD server and the HUD client on my Vista business. The HUD client can't connect to the HUD server, although the HUD server looks working from the web.
How can I trace the problem to resolve it?
