Develop a HUDLite gadget for Windows Vista Sidebar. It would really be a cool way to access the app.

HUDlite already can be foulded down to a small control. What is the advantage of a Sidebar over the way it works now?

Re: HUDLite Wish List

I wish that this software were stable, it reall makes Fonality look bad when so many people cant keep Hudlite running. Every time I make a change to Trixbox this thing goes down. It is a real pain in the ??? to get it going again. The lack of documentation, the riddles from tech support make things even worse. I cant even get Hudlite server to install anymore. I have tried manually, yum and package installation. I give up, If I cant get this running in a few days, I will de-install Tixbox. I simply can't deal with something so poorly designed anymore.

Re: HUDLite Wish List

I agree that a SideBar Gadget version would be really nice. In essence, the HUDlite software is a 'gadget' in that it provides useful information and allows for control. (I classify it as a gadget because you don't produce content with it... like you do with PowerPoint or OpenOffice.) Before Vista, gadget apps were these things that would go into the system tray and would change colors or pop-up a window to alert the user. HUDlite needs a much richer UI than the system tray can offer so the current user interface is excellent. But with Vista, the Sidebar offers many more possibilities than the system tray ever could making it the ideal host for gadget applications. The HUDlite software is perfect for the sidebar because it is the type of app that the sidebar was created for. They were made for each other!

A great example of how a program can be converted into a SideBar gadget is the PASS Gadget. Similar to HUDlite, it combines notifications with functionality to give you a hub for managing money transactions. It really embodies what a sidebar gadget should be. I can envision a HUDlite sidebar gadget with the same sort of rich functionality that PASS gives you except for my communications.

I so agree!

THE BIGGEST wish is that the software actually WORKS! (that would be a GREAT start!)

Re: HUDLite Wish List

Andrew,

I think there saying that has a gadget on the sidebar its easer to manage as it makes many tools through once simple and easy way to access and hide.

Instead of having may icons in the system tray, or attaching as the shrunk version at the middle of the screen.

But by the time that corporate clients have vista fully implemented trixbox will be version 5.

So probably it’s the lowest priority right now, but still something to consider.

Also, when will the TAPI driver be able to show incoming calls?
