Possible? Intercom & BLF
I have speed dials that are showing me presence information on various extensions--this works fine. However, I'm curious to know if it would be possible to be able to have the speed dial buttons call up that extension's intercom instead of plain ringing them.
Another way of asking it is: when I push the speed dial button for say, extension 200, can it trigger 200's intercom, but can it also show presence information for 200 as well?
I have been able to get the speed dial to do the intercom part by using FreePBX's Paging & Intercom module (i.e. paging group '600' connects me to extension 200's intercom), so I would set up the speed dial for '600'. Problem is, obviously, that it's not going to show the presence info for 200 if 600 is the speed dial.
Sorry for the verbosity. Thanks in advance for any help!
Currently our speed dials don't have much more capabilities beyond what you have configured. SIP v3.0 scheduled to be released early January will have Enhanced Speed Dial functionality which will allow you to prompt the user for additional input creating a more versatile speed dial key. For example, programing a speed dial to a paging system that will prompt the user for the extension to page before sending the dial string to the call control. But this still doesn't give you what you are asking. Hope it helps!

Mitch,
First of all, thank you for replying so quickly. I am a recent convert from Cisco to Polycom, and Polycom's functionality, support, and ability to customize is incredible, especially when compared to the Ciscos. Thanks for such a great product.
SIP 3.0 sounds really good--I'm looking forward to trying it out. Are we going to have problems getting it when it's released since Polycom doesn't provide the latest to end-users?
Thanks again.
