Hi guys, quick question for the boards...

I have a Rhino analog card coming in tomorrow to install for a customer and I was wondering what version of trixbox I should use. I noticed that there are some issues installing it on the latest version and I want to make sure I'm not wasting time at the customer site...

Thx

A lot of people are

A lot of people are installing 2.2 over any newer versions. That being said, I've installed 2.6 and haven't had any problems. Granted: 1) I tend to fix things and not realize it and 2) not on any real production systems (it's on my demo box -- currently. I'll install something else after a while, but I haven't had any show-stoppers while it has been installed.)

However, I have to say: please consider rescheduling the client. You really should spend some time testing before you go blindly install software for a client not knowing exactly what's going to happen when you do.

I have a selfish motivation for requesting this. I've had more than one burned customer tell me they hate FOSS telephony because some dude without a clue came out and installed trixbox real-quick-like for them and they had nothing but problems. These people are very hard to convince that it's not the nature of the software, but rather the professionalism of the vendor that is to blame. Especially when it's usually someone close, or semi-close to them (my nephew's friend is a real whiz with compu-tars!) who keeps blaming the software. But now I'm rambling.

In other words: don't be that guy.

Oh and just to add..I've put in several trixbox PBXs for clients that LOVE their setups. This is just my first analog Rhino card...which prompted my question.

In that case, good luck. If

In that case, good luck. If you want I can send a strongly worded letter to your boss for making you do that. :)
