A500 Interferance - Wanpipe Issue
Hi Everyone,
We are currently having some strange problems with two trixbox units we have recently installed for a client. The client has two locations, and at eahc site, they have 2 ISDN BRI lines. We chose the Sangoma A500 with Hardware EC to terminate these lines. The server that we are using is an IBM x3250, Dual Core Xeon with 1GB ram.
The problem that we are having is that after a period of time (which appears to be call volume related), whenever a call is place out on comes into the IDSN lines, there is a horrible interferance noise over the top of the call. It is a very hard noise to desribe, but it sounds like digital interferance.
I have uploaded a copy of a sound recording the clearly shows this noise: https://www.hugonet.com.au/uploads/pub/g205-20080429-160843-12094...
I have contaced Sangoma support, but have not yet been able to get very far.
We belive at this stage that it is an problem with the wanpipe software, as a restart to wanpipe (and subsequently asterisk) clears teh problem up.
Any ideas and thoughts are very much welcome.
Thanks,
Dan Cole
Hi Nenad,
Thank you for your reply. Please see below for output:

Card Cnt: A500=1
Hi,
We are investigating this issue. I seems to be related to the BRI power saving mode. And card clock recovery. We will release a new 3.3.9 release later on today that should fix your issue.
In above post you misspelled verbose. Can you please repost your "wanrouter hwprobe verbose" output, thanks :)
FYI:
Sangoma support has already sent you 3 emails since yesterday and it seems that you are not getting them :)

Nenad

Hi Nenad,
Sorry, my mistake. Here is the corrected output:

I have recieved two emails from you guys this morning.... Not sure about any others :(.
I will try the latest version of the drivers later (when i am able to pull the system down to do the upgrade. Unfortunatley we are not able to reproduce the problem on demand, but i will keep everyone updated on how we go.
Thansk for you help with thie so far

Hi,
Just letting everyone know that we have upgraded to the 3.3.9 version of the software. At the moment, there doesnt appear to be any problems. I will post anothre update later (it can take a whole day at times untill the problem occurs).
It might just be my mind playing tricks on me, but the calls do sound a little clearer...
Cheers,
Hi,
Just a quick update, the systems affected have been running stable with this newer version of teh software for far longer then with previous software revisions.
I am going to keep a close eye opn the systems for another couple of days before i get too excited, but at this stage things look very promising.
Cheers,
Dan Cole
The release Dan Cole has been testing has officially been released.

- AFT BRI Clock Reference Update
Disabled reference clocking feature on original A500 BRI Cards.
It has been determined that reference clocking feature is not always stable
on original A500 BRI cards. It can cause noise and call drops in some
circumstances where BRI lines go up and down due to power saving mode.
If you have problems with FAX synchronization on an original A500 BRI Card
contact Sangoma Support and we will swap out the card for one with
an updated CPLD that will work with the reference clock and provide
reliable FAXing.
Run wanrouter hwprobe verbose to determine your A500 BRI CPLD Version
-> wanrouter hwprobe verbose
-C00 -> old bri cpld (non reference clock)
-C01 -> new bri cpld (reference clock enabled)
- Manually Disabling BRI Clock Reference
This option is valid from 3.3.6 release and greater.
This option can be used in case of noise and voice quality issues
and call drop issues on BRI card.
In order to disable BRI clock reference manually one can add
RM_BRI_CLOCK=OSC in each BRI wanpipe config file in /etc/wanpipe directory.
1. vi /etc/wanpipe/wanpipe1.conf
2. Under the TDMV_SPAN option add
RM_BRI_CLOCK=OSC
3. Save file
4. Repeat for all BRI wanpipe configuration files
5. Restart all wanpipe devices
Note from 3.3.9 release on, all old CPLD A500 BRI cards
have clock referencing disabled automatically.
- Updated BRI Stack
Fix for RDNIS not cleared
Support for show_spans and show_calls.
Added support for multiple MSNs.
Added support for timer_t3 and timer_t302
