Hello, everybody.

We're configuring a new trixbox 2.6.0.7 server with a Sangoma A101 card. It will replace
our old asterisk@home server which has a Wildcard TE410P card.

After running setup-sangoma, we noticed that the zaptel.conf it generates does not match the one on the old server, specifically in the timing field (the second number) of the span line. The
zaptel.conf files from the two machines follow, as well as our selection of items in the setup-sangoma menu.

What do we need to choose in setup-sangoma in order to get a value of "1" in the span timing field?

Thank you.

more info

Here's more info about our setup. Just to review, we're unsure about how we should configure the clock timing. Also, we're newbies when it comes to working with networking equipment, as will become even
more obvious to you in a minute.

We have a T-1 line (exclusive for phone) which comes from the Telco and plugs into the Network port
of an Adtran TSU 120e unit. The Adran's DSX-1 port is connected to one of the Wildcard ports. The configuration menu of Adtran shows:

ADTRAN TSU-120e
Network Configuration

1) Format ESF
2) Code B8ZS
3) Yellow Alarm ENA
4) Transmit PRMs OFF
5) Timing Mode NETWORK (NI)
6) Set Line Build Out 0.0
7) Remote Loopback Det REJECT FT1
8) Bit Stuffing DISABLE
9) TR-08 Options
10) Exit

Quoting the Adtran documentation, this means that:

"The network is the source of timing. The received data clocking
is looped back to the network where it is used to determine the
transmission timing. This option is also referred to as loop
timed as the transmission clock is derived from the received
clock."

With the present configuration of Adtran, it seems that we need
the following line in zaptel.conf:
span=1,1,0,esf,b8zs

Is this correct?

(As long as we're on this topic, what role does the Adtran unit play here? Why
can't we just connect the T-1 line directly to the phone card?)

Here are the respective /etc/asterisk/zapata-auto.conf files:

--------------------
asterisk@home:

callerid=asreceived
switchtype=national
pridialplan=national
signalling=pri_cpe
channel => 1-23

--------------------
trixbox:

; Autogenerated by /usr/local/sbin/sangoma/setup-sangoma -- do not hand edit
; Zaptel Channels Configurations (zapata.conf)
;
; This is not intended to be a complete zapata.conf. Rather, it is intended
; to be #include-d by /etc/zapata.conf that will include the global settings
;
callerid=asreceived

;Sangoma A101 port 1 [slot:4 bus:2 span:1]
switchtype=national
context=from-zaptel
group=0
signalling=pri_cpe
channel =>1-23

Hi, The Adtran should be

Hi,

The Adtran should be taking the clocking from the telco then providing the same clock for our card. So yes you would like our card to be receiving the clock rather then providing it. The option in zaptel.conf that you are referring to gets over written by our driver, so it does not matter what the value is set to in zaptel.conf. You set the timing source when you selected the option below. Also you can edit the wanpipeX.conf (/etc/wanpipe) (x being the wanpipe number) and change the value of TE_CLOCK to be ether NORMAL or MASTER, and then restart our drivers so the change takes effect. Our card can connect directly to the T1 coming from telco. In this case the clock would have to be set to NORMAL because telco always provides the clock.

Select clock for AFT-A101 on port 1 [slot:4 bus:2 span:1]
1. NORMAL
2. MASTER
[1-2]:1

Ah, ok. Thank you.

Good to know. Thank you once more.

Hi, It seems there may be

Hi,

It seems there may be an issue with the way the system is configured to start so please send me the output of "ls -al /etc/rc3.d/" to techdesk@sangoma.com.
To debug the echo issue please go to http://wiki.sangoma.com/wanpipe-linux-asterisk-appendix#confirmHW... if this does not help you then please send me an email (techdesk@sangoma.com) and i will help you trouble shoot from there.
