How do to attended transfer with a Grandstream phone
The manual is badly written and doesn't explain the proper way to make an attended transfer of a call. Here is how to do it:
1) "A" answers the phone
2) "A" hits one of the "LINE" buttons (this places the incoming call on hold)
3) "A" dials the number of "B"
4) "A" speaks with "B" (hello Mr X, someone would like to talk to you...)
5) "A" hits the "TRANSFER" button
6) "A" hits the "LINE" button of the incoming call
The above can also be explained as: The secretary places the incoming call on hold on LINE1 and uses LINE2 to dial another person, then uses the TRANSFER button to join LINE1 with LINE2 and then hangs up.
This is also demonstrated on this video (GXP-2000 phones, but this works on all GXP phones):

I hope this is of some help to others, since the manual doesn't describe anything about it.
Err yeah, even the eejits at work managed to work that out who up until recently had never used a non-POTS phone and how is this not explained at the bottom of page 18 of the current manual?
This is also cunningly exactly the same method as you'll find with most softphones too.
hahahaha!
does the description given in the manual even compare with mine? The manual doesn't make any sense whatsoever!
here is your page 18:
"Attended (or Supervised) Transfer: Press “LINEx” button to make a call and automatically
place the ACTIVE LINE on HOLD. Once the call is established, press “TRANSFER (or TRNF)”
key to transfer the call and hang up."
It doesn't even mention WHEN to dial or when to speak to the other person, its vague at best.
Probably a bad translation for a Japanese script or written by someone who's English is a second (or third) language to him.
btw, i don't know about softphones but real PBX phones by SIEMENS and PANASONIC don't use the above method, they do it with a simple Transfer button like the blind transfer.
Glad my How To Vid is seeing some use.
I had originally linked this, along with other end user how to vids, on the GXP2000 page of the TrixBox Wiki. That page has since been taken down and not replaced with anything, not sure why. They are now linked at http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/GXP-2000#EndUserInstructionalV...
