7975 SIP

I have been unable to get the 7975 to register with SIP load. I've tried all available versions of firmware and multiple config files posted here and on voip-info.org, but nothing seems to work. I can tweak the posted files so that there are no errors processing the config, but the phone won't register properly with Asterisk. It will ring if I call it, but I cannot answer calls or place calls. Pressing the speaker button or picking up the handset does nothing.

Has anyone succesfully taken a 7975 out of the box, loaded SIP and registered with Asterisk? What firmware version did you use? Could you post your config?

I've done this succesfully with plenty of 7940s/7960s and have it down to a science. However the XML configs with the 7975 are still somewhat a black box for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try here:

Be sure to delete the two lines:

0

otherwise it wont take the sip load - just defaults to the defalut tftp settings.

the 7975 works fine with trixbox and sip. You will need in your extensions to set

NAT = no
Qualify = yes

( i know it doesnt work that way for the 7970 and 79x1 series - but it does for 7975!)

I find it much easier to

I find it much easier to browse the config files with an XML editor. Lots of good free ones for Linux and Windows.

You can sort all the tags and view everything in context.

Two Little Lines

Those two lines were EXACTLY the problem. Once I deleted them it worked like a charm.

Thanks!

glad to have helped feight

Been down that road myself. Also i learned about the nat=no and qualify=yes for the 7975 only a few days ago. That way you can still monitor your 75 with trix and get your ping times etc.

If you are thinking of trying that with a 70 - unless you have the absolute latest sipload then i dont think that will work. Downed mine with a 2007 load on it. so i had to go back to the nat=no and qualify=never.

SCCP to SIP firmware upgrade

Im still unable to get my 7975 to load its SIP firmware (writting over its default SCCP firmware that it came with)

Im fairly sure all my config files are correct, the phone even goes to the 'firmware upgrade screen' after a reboot....then after doing nothing for 5-8 seconds, it gives up trying to load the SIP firmware and goes back to the main screen.

What do you think im doing wrong freightwatch?

see this post:

I posted the conf.xml file there. Dont forget to insert your details for ip address etc.

Should work - did for me.

reboot fixed it...

Weird, but for some reason, i rebooted trixbox and the phone then loaded the new SIP firmware....

Actually if i recall, ive had this same issue when upgrading 7970's in the past. (i just forgot about it until now)

I wonder why a reboot fixes it and causes the phone to properly download the new SIP load.

Maybe an issue with TFTP timing out...

oh well it works and wide band audio kicks butt!!!!!
