SIP Firmware for 7970
I just received a 7970 that I ordered and realize now that I need the SIP firmware to make it work with my trixbox. Where can I get it? I tried getting it from Cisco's website, but it says I don't have the right level of access to download it. I would have settled for a CD with old firmware for the amount I paid for this phone.
What's the easiest way to get this firmware?
Thanks,
Derek
I have a Cisco TAC account, but I have been unable to get the web site to allow me to download the SIP Code I think is the proper release. Amoungst the issues I have run into is the 7970-G I have has a serial number that shows up as belonging to another company, even though I just purchased it from a Florida firm that specializes in reconditioning.
I have had a case open now for a week with no luck. If you succeed please let me know how !
Getting the support contract is the problem, Cisco just doesn't want to take my money. At least not through the web site. :-(
Went here -- http://www.cisco.com/public/scc/
But can't seem to find the right option from here.
Can't speak for djyvr8 but I am still stuck with getting SIP Code and which Version is actually working. Just purchasing the SmartNet contract for the phones appears to be a tough thing to do these days.
Anyone have valid tips they can place here or contact me directly via PM. Really want to get this customer up over the Holiday weekend and they want Cisco.
Thank You in Advance !!
I have an issue with the 7970-G phones that I can't get past..
I get an error messsage that indicates "error updtae locale" on the Phone and can't seem to get past it no matter what I try..
Using the SEP
Cisco Site -- http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_admi...
Implies I am missing additional files, but can't seem to locate them or there contents through Google..
TIA,,,,
Which version of the firmware are you using, and which version of Asterisk?
The files you need to have are:
SIP70.8-X-XSRX.loads
term70.default.loads
jar70sip.8-X-XSRX.sbn
cnu70.8-X-XSRX.sbn
apps70.8-X-XSRX.sbn
dsp70.8-X-XSRX.sbn
cvm70sip.8-X-XSRX.sbn
Where 8-X-XSRX is whatever firmware version you are using.
The .cop file for the firmware version you are using should have all these files once you extract it....
Also, post up the contents of your SEP.cnf.xml file....
I upgraded my phones to the newest firmware from 8.0.2SR1 to 8.3.3SR2 this weekend after reloading my system with trix 2.3.0.12 and had to rewrite my files from scratch as the newer firmware versions are less tolerant of problems in the configuration file.
Have tried two different Versions of SIP70 code.

Well, It's been a while and I am still waiting on Cisco for the Smartnet contract but with help of some of the members here I have made some progress, unfortunately I do not have a working phone(6) yet :-(
1.) Using the Soft reset of "settings" **#** did nothing for me.
2.) So now I needed Power other than POE, but guess what my 7960 adapter does not fit.
Correct Adapter is P/N# 330-10142-01 "CP-CUBE-PWR-3" or you need a good knife
to reduce the plastic on the older 7960 cubes. P/N # 34-1537-01.
3.) The Factory reset process is a bit strange. First You have to wait for the GREEN speaker light before pressing #. I was pressing it as I applied power. Second, enter the reset of the code 123456789*0# after the Line lights complete there first cycle in yellow not after they complete cycling.
4.) While it now is calling for the my term70.default.loads and Jar70sip.8-3-0-50.sbn I get no further than this and a GREEN headset + RED Mute button, then it cycles back through.
While I love the voice quality of Cisco this process is getting to be old :-(
**** One question for those with this working, who owns the Cisco distribution files in /tftpboot. I do a "chown asterisk.asterisk *" out of habit, could this be an issue, who should be the specific owner.group for this to work.
TIA, as always ...
Actually appears to be failing on the apps70..... file install.

Think I am winning, at least I have a clean SIP 8.3.3.SR2 load to the Phone..
Had to go back and in order load ---
SCCP-603
SCCP-703
SCCP-822SR1
SIP 8.3.3.SR2
Magic seemed to happen with the 822 load as the loader changes ..
Now on to the SEP
Well,
With some GREAT ASSISTANCE and Guidance from many I have Six phones up and running on the 2.4 code base. Now some key Labels, Paging, and maybe even an SLA between a 7960 and the 7970 at the Receptionist desk..
A safe and Happy New Year to All..
An THANK YOU ALL for your input and Guidance..
BUY SMARTNet early !!! Watch the Load Sequences as the Loaders do change..
Could you please, send me sample file to Cisco 7970 ?
Regards,
LAF.
I've got cmterm-7970_7971-sip.8-3-3SR2.cop a 7970G but I don't have trixbox (yet). I'm looking to use another provider (i.e. voipfone.co.uk) but before I load cmterm-7970_7971-sip.8-3-3SR2.cop onto the phone I'm just wondering whether I just drop the file into the TFTPD send folder or whether I need to extract it somehow first?
TIA
Tim
I have finaly gotten my 7970 to work on both a 2.4 and a 2.6. using SIP version 8.0.2sr1
I works well for the most part. My biggest issue is caller id showing the IP address XYZ@AsteriskIP address. This is most anoying.
In your 8.3.3 does everything work the way it should? Is there any chance I can get a look at your SEP file?
The number@IP is a 8.0.2SR1 issue. I use 8.3.2 and it works well, i think anything higher than that still suffers the NTP problem. However my MWI doesn't work. Seems to get a little you gotta give a little with this phone. I like the 8.3.2 better than 8.0.2 aswell because there is a dedicated DND button on screen at all times now, don't gotta dig through menus.
Forgive me for being a newbie, but, we all started there. I have just had a company dump 6 7970's on my lap and want them attached to an existing system. They all need to be sip and of course aren't. I have the firmware, vs sip8.34. Question I have is this: How do you get this phone to take the firmware? I have worked with polycom and that was simple. I see some info about a xml file, but, my firmware update has no such file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
